Named one of the 12 best state parks in America.
I lived in NH for many years and have passed through Franconia Notch many times, back when the actual Old Man of the Mountain actually existed. This is a beautiful drive, especially in the Fall, and there are lots of places to stop and things to do - the Old Man of the Mountain "hologram" if you will, the Flume Gorge, the Basin, Profile Lake, hiking trails, etc. If you are visiting NH you should definitely make a visit here, and you can also check out the nice little town of Littleton on the north side of "the Notch".

A 3,000-acre recreation area which offers a full-fledged Adventure Park with ziplines, ropes courses, mini golf, disc golf, hiking trails, restaurant and more. During the winter months Mount Sunapee is home to a premier ski area with 66 trails and 11 lifts and known for excellent trail conditions.
This is a great spot for the whole family. Fun year round. Excellent staff & great pricing. Highly recommend the trails & mini golf. Look forward to trying out the adventure course next time!

Ellacoya has it all...beautiful sandy beach, places for RV’s to park, lovely vistas of Lake Winnepausauke, barbecue grills and tables.

This park includes a large swimming beach on Newfound Lake.
This park is great for spending the whole day at. There is a beach for swimming, a boat launch, fishing, bathroom facilities, playground, small field, covered group area, grills, picnic tables, and washing stations. The water is crystal clear. Our family loves spending time here. The staff are great too. Highly recommend this place.

Great place to stay for semi-natural camping. Close to North Conway as well as area restaurants and grocery stores, but you don't really need to leave the park unless it is very rainy. Campground has hot showers but relatively primitive. I would not use them without wearing a pair of flip flops. Rest rooms are relatively clean. The campground tries, but sometimes campers are the neatest people and one of my pet peeves is parents allowing young children to use rest room unattended. However, the swimming and the lake makes up for any short comings and if you can plan your trip to encompass just great weather, camping is great. There are a few walk up sites. Usually the pickings are fairly good Sunday thru Tuesday. By Wednesday the pickings are slim! The campsites are good size although many of them more easily accommodate a tent! But it is a great family place. My children who are now in their 40s learned to swim there as there is a long gradual walk to deep water and the lake is spring fed so it is usually clear and clean. Sandy bottom in swimming area.

This 128 acre park is located along Lake Winnisquam.
A beautiful sandy beach on lake Winnisquam in Laconia NH It is kinda secluded but you are able to drive right up to it, just need to know where the entrance road is. If you are looking for a fairly private beach this may be as close as you will find for a public beach
