Hammond Castle Museum

Hammond Castle Museum is now open for the season! The Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is not handicap accessible. The Museum’s architectural style is mix of medieval castle, French chateau, and Gothic cathedral. It was custom built to encompass Hammond’s private residence, laboratory and museum quality collection of architectural elements such as the facades of medieval shops and doorways from chateaus. Hammond’s extensive list of patents, and his work on radio control and on echo guided torpedoes for the military are also on display. It is available for weddings and private rentals.

We visited Columbus Day weekend and they were doing a haunted house on the weekend and bussing people from a nearby parking lot. It was so much fun! The grounds were so nice to explore and the castle was decorated for Halloween. Even thought you were walking through a haunted castle you could get a very good feel of what the castle is like and it was really cool. Just as you would imagine a medevil castle, right down to the drawbridge.

Castle Tucker

1807 mansion maintained by Historic New England; extraordinary furnishings and design details.

Our guide, Jennifer, practically brought the Lees and Tuckers to life for us with all that she shared about the history of Castle Tucker. It was a fascinating tour peeking into rooms that once throbbed with life. The contents were the "real thing," not period pieces brought in, but items actually owned and used by the family. Since we were the only two in the tour, I think we saw a bit more, but the time flew by.

I have been here multiple times and love it every time. Seeing the castle is always cool, it is a beautiful building. My daughters love it. It's always a good go to when needing some outdoor time since it's close to home. We love it here and will continue coming.

We were not able to go inside the castle or walk the estate grounds themselves as they were under construction. The park area was lovely. Beautiful rock formations, and small beach area. Beautiful, breathtaking views perfect place for our picnic to end our trip. Absolutely lovely.

Searles Castle

Searles Castle is an important landmark to the Town of Windham NH. In fact, it is part of the town seal. Searles Castle was developed by Edward Searles over the course of a number of years. It has beautiful, expansive grounds that are a delight to walk. The Castle as its affectionately called hosts many special events, especially weddings. We visited for the Town's 275th anniversary special and were impressed with the setting and service.

Castle Craig

What a perfect place to go hiking! If you'd like to drive up, the views are incredible and there's plenty of parking closely to the castle. The views are beautiful. When we visited, there was an Italian ice vendor, so there are definitely treats to be had. Definitely climb to the top of the castle (it's not that many steps). Dogs are allowed to climb the castle too! I've lived in CT forever and only visited for the first time this year. It's definitely a sweet spot and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, outdoor activity.

Belcourt of Newport

Belcourt Mansion is just a small part of a larger picture — one that celebrates Rhode Island history and culture. It all stems from Carolyn Rafaelian, a native entrepreneur who values the human aspect of business. Belcourt of Newport has been restored to its former glory and has re-opened under new ownership for guided tours.

Reviewed By susansV7339KL - Boston, United States

Our tour guide, Mariette (sp?), was the best tour guide ever! She tied in Belcourt to the history of the other Newport mansions. She also pointed out so many facts about the restoration of the property which is unlike any of the other mansions I have toured. I look forward to touring again when as the retoration continues. The price is fair for a guided one hour tour.

Wilson Castle

If you love the beautiful and craftsmanship of old world architecture, you won't be disappointed with what awaits you upon entering this grand home. In dire need of repair, the history and beauty would be a serious loss for Vermont if left to deteriorate. The stained glass windows are numerous and beautiful, as well as the carved woodwork throughout, The views from the patio are breathtaking. You are welcome to browse on your own, entering the rooms to investigate at leisure, or be accompanied by the hier of the last owner, Colonel Wilson, whose family has owned it for generations. If you are interested in the area of paranormal activity, this would be another reason to stop by because there is some history of that as well. My family and I spent way longer than expected here exploring, not anticipating the warm, informative, and welcoming hostess. You can tell the love and passion Denise has for her home. It is truly a rough gem waiting to return to its former glory. Best of luck.
