June 9, 2021 Flossie Demartino

Romantic Naples, two hours south of Rome, is the largest city in southern Italy. It has some of the world's best opera and theater houses and is often called an open-air museum, due to its many historic statues and monuments. Join families on promenade as the sun sets on the Bay of Naples. View finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum, destroyed by Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale or revel in the art and architecture of Museo Cappella Sansevero, built in the late 1500s.

Alilauro

Reviewed By Yondir

Alilauro runs a ferry service between Naples and Amalfi, with stops on the way. The cost is 6.90 euro per person with no extra for suitcases. This is a public service ferry and is government subsidized. We travelled from Naples to Amalfi not knowing this, by advance booking an Italo train to Salerno and then a SITA bus. When in Amalfi, we saw that there is a direct ferry from Amalfi to Naples. You can’t book online or even in advance. You get there, queue at the booking office and pay. We got there early to ensure leaving enough time. The ferry came a few minutes late ... this is south Italy :) ... and we arrived in Naples without any problem. All suitcases without charge (unlike Alicost and Travelmar) To see a timetable, you need to search as most ferries are commercial , charge much more for less distance, and advertise heavily. This Alilauro ferry is the best kept secret in Italy
