With eleven miles of sand, it's no surprise the beach is everyone's favorite attraction in Nags Head. This Outer Banks town just south of Kitty Hawk offers ocean fans every sort of shoreline sport, from sailing and kayaking to snorkeling past shipwrecks or hang-gliding over the sand dunes of Jockey's Ridge State Park. Step into the past with a walk through the historic district and enjoy the area’s distinct architecture.

Life on a Sandbar specializes in braids, hair wraps, henna, temporary tattoos, and making sand art creations. New this year is mermaid and pirate makeovers. We also carry Del Sol color-changing nail polish, t-shirts, hats, and more. Plus, we carry beautiful silver jewelry, and very unique. Our store is locally owned and operated for over 18 years. We especially enjoy seeing familiar faces every year, plus new ones. Our motto is creating fun, sun, and memories. This year we moved our location downstairs , next to the Fudgery. Same, same, but different.
Sarah was familiar and friendly when she visited our time-share owners' meeting. First visited the shop in 2000, and have gone back every time we have come to the Outer Banks, since then. We love the color changing t-shirts, tote bags, and nail polish: we've had many compliments on them when we return home!! Sarah also carries a fabulous selection of reasonably priced jewelry: love the sea turtles! Sand art creations are available for you to make and be creative.

Enjoy 18 holes of Pirate Adventure Golf! Arg! While you walk the course enjoy the beautiful Sound Side view & refreshing ocean breeze.
Our family visited during our recent trip to Nags Head and had a wonderful time. They had clear Covid procedures in place and the whole staff was friendly. The courses were fun, and who doesn’t love a pirate ship? Highly recommend!

This is a campy, age-ing putt-putt course. Think Land of the Lost, or Puff the Magic Dragon, and you get the idea. It is fun if you go to play with your loved ones and enjoy the atmosphere and other people. I had a blast with my daughter, who is 22. She got a hole in one on the 4th hole! The salt air has definitely done a number on the dinosaurs and they clearly have been painted over, time and again. But they are very organized here, they only take cash but they have their own ATM. $9 each for adults, but if we'd remembered to go to the website, we could have printed coupons to save a little money. There are two courses with 18 holes each. We took the T-REX course, and next year we will do the Raptor course. It would be hot as anything during the day, but they are open until 11 p.m. and we went in the evening around 8 p.m. Just a fun, silly place. We liked it!
