An annual visit beautiful trails, lovely volunteers an all around tremendous Nordic ski area. There is always a ton of snow in this area and you can count on excellent groomed trails. When we have gone on weekends there has been homemade soup and bread served in the cozy warming house but you can always bring your own food. We love to end our ski with a great stay at Roam Boutique Hotel in Munising.

When we started planning our vacation I thought we would rent kayaks.....until I saw how expensive it was. We passed and decided on the pontoon instead after reading a few reviews. It was cheaper than kayaking, and we didn’t have to wear a mask like on the tour boats since we were on our own. It was so relaxed and we all enjoyed our time! The half day was plenty of time to see the lakeshore and the sunken boat. We stopped briefly at the last beach-there is a neat little waterfall there. We think this is the only way to see pictures rocks. Kayaking seemed kind of stressful and you don’t see very much of the coastline from what we observed. The people at Seabergs were great to work with! The boats were clean and well kept!

Munising Snowmobile Rentals

We stayed at the Holiday Inn overlooking the bay, and found out the same gentleman that owns Munising Rentals owns the hotel. He offered to bring us oil and top off the sleds before our second day riding. One of the guys bumped a tree and had some minor front end damage so they brought another sled to the hotel for him to make sure he had a safe sled to ride. We’re going back up in February and have booked with Munising Rentals again!

Munising Mountain Bike Park

Shortly after passing through Downtown Munising, heading west, it's hard to miss Munising’s flagship trail network, Munising Mountain Bike Park. The trailhead offers ample parking, bike repair station and pit toilet facility (That’s considered a luxury in the U.P.). Saddle up and prepare for a gradual climb up the Gateway Loop to access a variety of modern jump and flow trails or skills park.

Something for every rider - beginning starts with hard pack, wide switch backs on the green trail, then a more traditional cut through the purple section, and for experienced riders, a newer section off to the South - not for the timid on the side of some very steep hills. Didn't try the skills area but looked like fun if that's your thing.
