Though Mumbai can feel chaotic and crowded, there are peaceful moments to be found here. Nibble a paper cone of bhelpuri while you stroll the sands of Chowpatty Beach. Then, take a short walk to Mani Bhavan, where Mahatma Gandhi once lived, strategized, and was ultimately arrested. The markets are spirited places to bargain for spices or souvenirs. Take a guided tour of Dharavi – made famous by "Slumdog Millionaire" – for an eye-opening glimpse into what Mumbai life is like for nearly a million people.

A popular destination for cutting affordable art & world-class life style products by over 80 leading Indian graphic artists reflecting a new India. Art prints, t-shirts, tote bags, phone cases, laptop, skins, home accessories and much more can be found here.
I happened upon the Kulture Shop with a couple of friends walking along the streets of Mumbai, and couldn't help but walk into the beautiful store just by looking through the windows outside. Incredibly friendly employees described the concept behind the store and one friend immediately recognized several of the artists in the store - saying it was very difficult to find their art to purchase, so having it at the Kulture Shop was incredible. I especially loved how the store picks artists with varying techniques and aesthetics to showcase the diversity of Indian art. I also loved how many different options there were to purchase a given print - on a postcard, on varying sizes of posters, on a mug, etc. Overall an incredible experience - left feeling happy and that I'd learned!

Located in the 150 year old Somaiya Bhawan, Kitab Khana located close to the Flora fountain is in the best part of Mumabi (The Fort area). Perhaps the largest book store in Mumbai you can be sure to find your choice of book here. The staff is very knowledgeable and know location of every single book. The cafe however is lousy and should be avoided.
