November 10, 2021 Joeann Galban

The political, scientific, historical, architectural and business center of Russia, Moscow displays the country's contrasts at their most extreme. The ancient and modern are juxtaposed side by side in this city of 10 million. Catch a metro from one of the ornate stations to see Red Square, the Kremlin, the nine domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum, the KGB Museum and other symbols of Moscow's great and terrible past, then lighten up and shop Boulevard Ring or people watch in Pushkin Square.

Came her 3 years ago and parts of it were under renovation. This time it was almost fully renovated, very clean and tidy. Grand entrance through a huge arch, then a main wide park street with a massive Stalin style building featuring the former 16 soviet republics coat of arms. Behind this building is a beautiful golden fountain with 16 female figures (statues) each representing one of the republics. The park is very spacious and grand.

Ostankino TV Tower

Ostankino TV tower - the highest point in Moscow. From viewing platforms open most brilliant panoramic views of the capital. From a vantage point 337 meters of the capital lies at a glance: Here Lomonosov Moscow State University University, Christ the Savior Cathedral, the Kremlin towers, the complex "Moscow City". Afternoon - the best time to make a photographic miniatures of the city, take a walk on the glass floor and try out our binoculars and telescopes. In the evening, you can leisurely look at the bizarre shapes of the city lights, sitting in a high-altitude restaurant "Seventh Heaven", which rotates around its axis. It is interesting to walk around the tower. In addition to the beautiful "Ostankino" Museum-Estate with park and ancient palaces, here it is worthy of attention "Exhibition of Economic Achievements." Ostankino Tower is among the ten highest free-standing buildings of the world. Today it is not only unique in the signal power radio and television transmitting station, and meteorological observatory, a giant lightning rod, and, of course, one of the most recognizable symbols of Moscow. From an architectural point of view it is a flower that grows out of the heavens. It is weighty "petals" on the ground, holding a thick but relatively easy "stem." This is a very bold in its design structure: the base of the tower - only 4.6 meters deep. At the same time its height - 540 meters. The real revolution in the construction of high-rise! At the time of opening in 1967 it was the tallest building in the world and held this position for 10 years. Climbing the legendary tower already made tens of millions of people.

Once you get to the highest available floor for visitors (hight: 337 m), you can have a very good view over the Moscow city. I guess a sunny day would be the best time to visit this place. Looking down the glass floor is the best, kind of scary experience you might have there. .... Two successive security check at the entrance (just like the airports) is too much!
