Things to do in Montreal, Canada: The Best Movie Theaters

September 27, 2021 Randal Brittian

Montreal, c’est si bon! This French-speaking city is considered the cultural capital of Canada, and is a cosmopolitan celebration of Québécois style. A horse-drawn carriage ride around the cobblestone streets and grand buildings of Vieux-Montréal will give you a taste of European flavor. The Basilique Notre-Dame is a confection of stained glass, and the Plateau Mont-Royal district will delight you with its quaint boutiques and cafés. Dig in to a massive plate of poutine to fuel up for a tour of the epic Olympic Park.

Cinema du Parc

Halfway through our tour of Eastern Canada it was great to find this wee cinema with a choice of up to date English language films (still to be released in UK). Staff were obviously keen to please. Bar and shops next door too so got everything we wanted and wish them all the best to continue operating!

Cinema Cineplex Forum

I really like the location of this cinema. It is in the Forum which is a great start to an enjoyable experience. It is also located across the Street from the Alexis Nihon complex which has 3 levels of all sorts of stores and restos. Fast food outlets like A & W, Tim Hortons, McDonalds are all right there for some nourishment before or after a movie. Hard to beat the food court as well for a bite to eat. All in all one of my favourite locations to view a movie. just viewed a Star is Born and would highly recommend the film.

Forum de Montreal

Long revered as the original home of the city of Montreal's hockey team, the Canadiens as well as a legendary venue hosting bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Celine Dion, the Montreal Forum continues to thrive today as the city's most diverse entertainment complex. Inside the walls of this historical landmark, you will find activities suitable for many of your entertainment needs. The Cineplex Odeon offers 22 state-of-the-art theatres; the Comedy Nest features stand up acts from well-known comedians; the Forum GamesCentre featuring over 90 different arcade-style games and a billiards salon; the opportunity to bowl in any of the 16 alleys; watching any premiere game or match on one of 32 big screen TVs while tasting the signature Forum Burger in the Forum Sports Bar.

For Hockey fans or entertainment fans, the old Montreal Forum, creatively restored into a courtyard mall, is easy to get to from Atwater station and continues to offer something to do for locals and visitors alike. It looks like there's even room for more businesses in there, so hopefully it can fill more spots if foot traffic demands it. On the third floor, there's a multi-purpose entertainment bar with various games, bowling, ping pong, pool etc... Additionally there's The Comedy Nest, a must-see for stand-up comedy fans. And if you've finished watching a movie at the Cineplex on the ground floor, you can always walk across the street to yet another indoor mall.
