An enjoyable, scenic day trip to the rolling hills of Montgomery county convenient to Washington D.C. as well as the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. Participate with a 'Create your own' event.
What a beautiful family-owned, family-loved studio! My first trip was a sad one, having lost my elderly blind kitty. I had heard Art of Fire made beautiful glass kitty paperweights with the ashes of beloved, departed pets. They were so sweet and sympathetic. Oreo is now immortalized. Second trip, a magnificent heart for our Christmas tree. Third trip, another departed kitty, Soot, perfectly remembered. My fourth trip will be a one-of-a-kind vase I spotted. Maybe a fifth visit to take the beginner glass class! The owner has saved many unadoptable kitties over the years. Art of Fire does magic with glass and compassion!

The Blue Hearth offers unique home decor in over 6,000 square feet of space in the historic Dr. Thomas Poole house. Our shop is filled with revitalized furnishings and upscale vintage pieces from many talented artisans from our local area. Our In-House Design Center offers complete custom interior design services. We are open the first and third Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every month. We are also available by appointment.
The Blue Hearth has a plethora of treasures inside its doors. There really is something for everyone, and there is always help for questions to be answered if needed. The shop always has holiday-specific items during the seasons and during the summer the outdoor patio always has amazing finds such as bistro sets and patio furniture.

We wandered into Design Emporium when we were shopping for area rugs at the business next door. On a lark, we popped in to see what we could find. We found a great selection of unique pieces, a welcoming, low key atmosphere, excellent prices and great customer service! if you don't see what you are looking for be sure to ask. Kristina pointed us to unique, pieces that we are thrilled to add to our home even though we had initially walked right by them. If the piece you buy, or have at home could use a little face lift, they offer expert services as well. Highly recommend crossing over Connecticut Ave to this somewhat hidden treasure on Howard Ave!

Inspired by the open air shops of Paris and New Orleans owners Teri and Rene took home decor items to tent sales and barn sales around the Md area. When our own barn became available we took the chance to bring our treasures to one place. Please come see us and find your treasure.
This is a unique shop in a unique space: an old barn on River Road. The owners, Teri and Rene, are very welcoming and you immediately feel comfortable like you are visiting old friends. The merchandise consists of some vintage items and new products, many of which cannot be found anywhere else. We have purchased a three tier midcentury modern bar cart that we use as a night stand. We also purchased a new set of French steak knives, a wrought iron plant etagere, jewelry and autumn leaf shape dishes. The items offered are eclectic and changing often, so that frequent visits to the market mean you will always find something new! The owners frequently have pop-up sales where they invite other vendors and artisans to display their wares.

RIO Washingtonian Center is a lakefront shopping, dining and entertainment experience for the whole family, located just off of I-270 in Gaithersburg, MD.
There are lots of places to eat at the Rio and you can stroll and walk around the pond. They have specialty shops as well as name brand stores. They have it all.

High rollers and shopaholics will love this locale with Bloomingdales, Lord and Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Saks and well as Nordstrom Rack and Marshall’s all within a few blocks. Generally, if you can’t find it here, you don’t need it! Wish all the stores were under one roof so that you could avoid the elements on hot summer or cold winter days, but there’s lots of great coffee shops and bistros for a hot or cold beverage while you navigate the landscape. Metro is steps away or lots of free, validated parking by one of the stores also to make this venue attractive.
