Montevideo, a port city and the capital of Uruguay, is a perfect destination for travelers looking for a relaxing stroll past colonial era buildings and along beautiful beaches. The Ciudadela Gateway, the only remaining section of the wall that once surrounded the entire city, now serves as the entrance to Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo's oldest neighborhood. Home to churches, museums, and theaters, at night the area comes alive with nightclubs playing Tango and Candombe music for crowds of dancers.

We are wine lovers and we want to share our passion with you, enjoy and explore the best selection of wines of the hand of Montevideo Wine's team.
If you are into wines and have some time come to Montevideo Wine Experience (MWE). I spent 6 nights in Montevideo before and after visiting several bodegas and each evening I came to MWE. So I can say I had lots of 'experience' at this fabulous wine bar. I hope you are lucky enough to meet Nico and Liber on your visit. If not Diego and Alesandro (Ales) will be very happy to serve you. They all speak English. It seems Thursday evening are live music night which can be very busy as the music at MWE is always excellent. I did two different tasting which were both paired with great cheese, meat and bread. If you enjoy good red wines but not sure what to order live it up and order Los Nadies 2011 Equilibrio made by Manuel Filgueira. MWE is just a great spot to hang out, enjoy the wines, meet very interesting people and then if you are still hungry go across the street to Es Mercat for a fabulous seafood dinner. Thank you guys at MWE for making my time in the capital city a special and unique experience.

I am Martín, a vocation traveler, I have lived in Montevideo since I was born, I have traveled several places in South America and Europe and I want to return what they have given me in other countries that I visit. I am a photographer by vocation, I have long dedicated myself to photo reportage and portrait photography. Highlight that I like to tour the city with my own Multilingual Audioguide and do what I know and like, that the visitor takes the professional photographic record forever, at all points.

This is a great bar in Montevideo with an amazing history. Visit it for a drink or a tango show or a fun evening. Friendly staff. The special beverage is interesting. The tango show was excellent. And, you can purchase a special t-shirt.
