Vinarija Kopitovic

Kopitovic family settled in the village of Donji Brceli in Crmnica in the 15th century. We have a long history of grapevine cultivation, especially types like Vranac and Kratosija. Vineyards are situated in ideal altitude above the sea level exposed to the sun during many days of the year. Old cellar is part of our winery and is over 300 years old. Also we built new degustation room in authentic style.

I booked a day trip for a boat ride on Skadar Lake and a wine tasing at a local vineyard. Vinarija Kopitovic was amazing! This is a family fun winery that shows a bit of family love in each of their wines. They have delicious white and red wines and introduced me to their first Rosé which ended up being my favorite. I was greeted by one of the daughters, mother and father and shown such hospitality with a spread of cheeses, prosciutto, bruschetta, olives, sausage and home made bread. It was truly an authentic and warming visit. I highly recommend this as a stop if you are in Podgorica and enjoy wine.

Vinarija Vukicevic

In the valley which is from ancient times known for growing vines and wine production, in the heart of old Montenegro, there is a special story from village of Beri, on the slopes of region Ljesanska nahija. This is the story of the Vukicevic family, which from a hobby became an obsession with making drinks whicha are filled with the finest grapes, but also with great love. The first records of this winery date back to 1989, when first vineyards were planted, while the current capacity is 18,000 vines, spread over 4 Ha, on which high-quality grape varieties are planted. The tradition of wine making, from grapes from their own vineyards, is maintained by two brothers - two wolves, as a symbol and trademark of the winery. In addition to the production hall and wine aging area, the winery also has a tasting room within which, in addition to wine and brandy tasting, it also offers local traditional specialties.

13 Jul-Plantaze Vineyard

Reviewed By WITYTRAVELS

The Šipčanik winery is inside of a Yugoslavia era aircraft hangar that was partially destroyed by the NATO bombing in 1999. From 1999 to 2005 this building was left empty. The next year, the major winery of Podgorica, took over this place. Plantaže which is the largest single site vineyard in Europe turned this former aircraft hanger into Sipcanik winery. We made reservations in advance, but still needed to tell the people what we wanted when we got there. This was not an issue though as we were able to get the tour we wanted and were the only guest in the wine cellar. We booked an hour long tour that cost us 17 Euros a piece. Our Sommelier, Jovana, did a fantastic job. She showed us the comparison of the city to all of the vineyards of Plantaže on a model that they had inside. She also gave us a tour around the cellar to show us the oak barrels and their innox containers for storing wine. She explained to us the aging process behind wine and how the climate and soil of Podgorica allows them to grow their wine grapes all year long. She also showed us how to properly hold a wine glass and look at its color against a white surface. She showed us the proper way to smell the wine and try to guess what kinds of fruits are in it. They also provided goat cheese, cow cheese, bread and their own olive oil to pair with he 5 wines we sampled.

Recommend a visit to this charming winery. Up on the hillside by Savina Monastery with beautiful views of the mountains overlooking Kotor Bay through to the gateway of the Adriatic Sea. Natasha was our guide. Informative of the locality, the wines & the history of the winery (from it being a hobby through to winning bronze awards at the world wine awards in London) It wasn’t just the wine, our friendly guide, the tour or the food though that made it such a lovely place to visit it was the whole experience. Exceptional views with delicious local food (snacks to complement the wine) a warm, welcoming guide and very good wines- light, refreshing and fruity. We started with rose-ganache, white - chardonnay, red- cabernet sauvignon -the merlot was still in the barrels & finally we had the rakija. It is a small winery and the tour itself is not long but it made it more personal hearing the family story behind the winery. We thoroughly enjoyed it and spent a good few hrs there relaxing, with it all undertaken at a very gentle pace. Really worth a visit, though to be aware you do need to make a private booking before you go (we did this through our hotel)

Zavjet

I would like to present you my wine “Zavjet”, which is produced in my own small winery in the south of Europe, namely in Montenegro –the Balkan peninsula. The wine “Zavjet” is made of the local sort of the grapes called “Vranac” which originates from this area. The wine made of “Vranac” has the same rich dark-red ruby colour as the “Vranac” grape berries. My winery is located in the Crmnica area,
