We need to remove this location from our account. we do not own this location or manage it. it is a National Park. thanks Monticello City
We decided to check this out on our way home since we did not make it to Dead Horse State Park or to the Grand View Overlook at Canyonlands National Park. We were hoping this would be a good alternative and we were not disappointed. It requires a 22 mile (one-way) drive off of highway 191 but that is not necessarily a bad thing since that tends to keep the crowds away. The road is paved and had very little traffic. The overlook itself is not part of the National Park but is managed by the BLM. It sits atop a peninsula with 1500 foot drops an all sides so you need to closely supervise any young kids. It has a very nice loop trail (about 0.5 miles long) that allows you to stop at multiple overlooks with incredible views of Canyonlands to the South, West and North. There are benches in several spots, just a few feet from the cliff edge, where you can sit and enjoy the breathtaking views rivaling those of many more well known places. There are bathrooms and picnic tables also so this would be a good spot for lunch. Plus, icing on the cake, it is free of charge to visit here.

A couple miles up a gravel road with no elevation change; we made it easy in a sedan. then a short hike up a good path to the tracks, which are well worth seeing. That's really the only attraction here, but there are explanatory plaques to help understand what you are seeing. We were the only ones there, which made the visit special.
