Euromos Ruins

Reviewed By JohnTGW - London, United Kingdom

Euromos is immediately off the main road, marked only by a small brown sign, but is definitely worth a visit. We spent about an hour and a half onsite, and entered using our Museum Pass - Aegean. The entrance guard was friendly, and there were clean, newly-built toilet facilities. The Temple of Zeus Lepsinos is impressive for having so many upright pillars, though it is fenced off so you cannot walk inside it (probably sensible!). There is a level cobbled path to the Temple so this area at least has easy accessibility. Follow the signs up over the hill to the City Walls (steps so limited accessibility) to enter inside the city and see the rest of the ruins. The theatre is partly excavated, with several shafts sunk to the historical ground level, and only the upper tiers of the theatre fully exposed. it was particularly interesting to see how the earth has protected the parts of the theatre that were covered. As usual, the theatre had a lovely view out over the valley below, though there was some road noise.
