Think you need an ocean for a beach? Think again. There are miles and miles of sandy lakefront beaches in Michigan (thanks to the four Great Lakes that border it). The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

If you like to tour the Great Lakes you'll like taking a tour of the Valley Camp. It's an authentic iron ore boat you can visit from stem to stern. It's very easy to locate and it's right on the Soo Locks and the Soo Locks tour is right down the road. They have a nice gift shop that is located right next to the waterway. You can spend all day here, and have a picnic too.

My friends and I did the yacht cruise with captain Bill. The yacht was in great shape and made for a great experience, and captain Bill was exceptional. Would highly recommend anyone to do this in the future and I look forward to doing it again.

Wonderful little park to walk. There is some art work on display which is fun to look at. One is a poem on oars of a rescue boat saving a person whose hand is all you can see. It is a touching life sized reminder and celebration of those who work to save us. Its a great place to walk.

There is a nice sand beach and breakwall with railing that you can walk out. Sunsets are beautiful. Waves can get large if there is a strong sustained wind from the north.

There are so many spots surrounding this marina. The walkway pier, Little Traverse City Museum, bike rentals. Concession stand with cold frappes, hot dogs and seasonal Michigan cherries. Beautiful blue lake I enjoy every time when I get to see the lakes. Such a relaxing place to visit and sit for a couple of hours and stroll with your dog.
