This place is magical from the very first minute you arrive to La Macarena. The town and its surroundings were no-man land just a few years ago because of the civil war ravaging many parts of Colombia. With the recent peace agreement signed by the government and the main guerrillas FARC, many places like La Macarena ca be visited with no safety concerns. A marvelous place, full of wonderful rivers, jungles, plains, mountains and a vibrant local community. Most of the tour guides are local and they know everything from the place, its history, flora and fauna and they are as friendly as any people you will meet in Colombia.

The location indicated on the map is the house of Alejandra (full of info about the area and some local products can be bought) Tipp: She also has a travel agency if you want to visit cano cristales or such.
