Nohwet Living Root Bridge, Nohwet We visited the Nohwet Living Root bridge, a 30 meter, 200 years old bridge built with living roots of Indian rubber trees planted in 1840. It is built by Khasi tribal people across a small river by name Thyllong River. Nohwet Village is one of the cleanest villages in Megalaya situated in the East Khasi District of Mehgalaya. The descent to the Living Root Bridge is a little rocky but the sight of the bridge is worth every step we descented. The local Khasi people maintain this living root bridge, the last major maintenance work done in June 2019. A must visit place while touring Meghalaya.

This is a must visit tourist attraction in Meghalaya. Journey is bit long but not strenuous. When we reached there, in our front was a vast stretch of open land and on its one end was vast tall green canvas as if someone has drawn it to the scale in straight line. It was sacred forest. Our special guide for the place had to lead us to its entrance which otherwise is most likely to be missed. And inside that lay a unique very vast jungle. Tall tress, road wet all along, chirping of birds all through, orange size lemon trees, different species of mushrooms, spectacular variety of trees, no ray of sun, pin drop silence, big hanging branches of trees, places where local heads occasionally visit to pray and make offerings to jungle God. We were warned not to take out even the smallest of leaf from said jungle. Legend has it that whosoever dared break said rule, soon was condemned to some unknown illness and ultimately paid with his/her life. So we did enjoy lemon juice of freshly plucked lemons inside jungle but the party had to be over then and there. one has to be there to believe and enjoy what really said Sacred Forest has to offer. After visiting said place, we met with visitors at Kaziranga who were part of tour group arranged by one reputed tour operator. We asked whether the said place was on their itinerary and... you guessed right. IT WAS NOT. After returning home, we checked with some other colleagues and friends who have recently visited Meghalaya about their experience of this awesome place. To our surprise they did not know about this place and one of them was one who is an avid traveller and explorer of the places. So my suggestion to the readers is - do include Mawphlang sacred forest in your itinerary when you visit Meghalaya. Good luck.

I stayed at Sai-I-Mika Park in December 2019 for two nights. It's a great place to stay and to discover nearby Sohra and sights such as the NohKaliKai Falls. We did several treks using Sai-I-Mika as a base as it was very conveniently located. The cabins and cottages are each individually-style and very comfortably-equipped. We also saw some entertaining live music on Saturday night from two local musicians. Highly recommended!

We came here and did Zip-line activity which was really thrilling. The valley view looks awesome. This place is on the way to Cherrapunjee from Shillong.

Thang Kharang is the name of the vilage and literally means burning fish. In olden times on weekly market day fires were built and fresh whole fish were skewered and roasted around these fires. The fish mainly came from East Pakistan now Bangladesh and was reputed to be fresh and very tasty. The park situated in this village maintained by the Forest Deptt Of the State Govt is an example of how well organisations can be run if persons employed are dedicated and true to their work. I think the Meghalaya Government should take this park as a living example and import it to all its Departments as a learning and doing experience. Very very simple and rustic persons maintain the park but their pride to produce a haven of bliss for the weary tourist is highly commendable. The park is truly an island of Peace, Beauty & Joy. The view of Bangladesh and the valley on a clear day is something to experience.I commend the workforce of the Park for their loyalty and devotion to the conservation of Nature.

I have visited this place on Jan-19. Mawlynnong village is located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also known as "God's own Garden" and has been awarded the cleanest village in Asia in the year of 2003. This village is known for it's cleanliness is located around 90 KM from Shillong. The waste is collected in the dustbins made of bamboo, directed to a pit and then used as manure. Smoking and use of polythene is banned here while rainwater harvesting is highly encouraged. All the residents should participate in cleaning up the village - this is the mandate set by their community initiatives. Apart from these, the village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living root bridge at a neighbouring village Riwai. I would stongly recommend this place to visit others to know about the cleanliness.

This Garden is spread in vast area. High point also covers one of the waterfalls of the Seven Sisters Waterfalls. Eating options are also there.
