Mauritius is arguably Africa’s wealthiest destination, a tropical paradise with tons to do. Port Louis, the modern capital of this 38-mile by 29-mile island, is a bustling port with a revitalized waterfront and a busy market. But most visitors gravitate toward resort areas such as Mont Choisy, quiet Trou-aux-Biches and the more bustling Flic en Flac, popular with scuba divers. Rivière Noire is ideal for those looking for great deep-sea fishing.

The only way to visit the true nature masterpiece as Les 7 Cascades is to find a guide who knows well the place as the path can be very tricky in some areas. Short rains are something usual here so it can be steep but also slippery. So it's important to choose the right clothes and shoes. My daughter /16/ and I visited Les 7 Cascades on 18 Dec. I researched on the Internet to find the right guide. My choice was Prakash Isram from Green Discovery. I wrote him a message in FB. Everything was arranged for less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, that day was rainy. I looked at the sky, and I felt some doubts about whether to start the challenge at all. But we went. The weather conditions were not excellent, but the adventure was. We descended to the bottom of the valley and then started climbing cascade after cascade. Prakash showed us some unusual plants, told us some historical facts about the place and how it was looked in the past. We had a lot of possibilities to take pictures. There are a few places that he asked the group, whether someone wanted to swim. In our group, no one was willing to swim or jump in the water. We climbed all 7 cascades though I believe they must have been 10 or 12 as some waterfalls are next to each other almost at the same level in the valley. Prakash took care of everything including food and water. Sandwiches with traditional vindaye fish were good, but homemade samosas were very delicious. Lychees and pineapples were given us as a dessert. Everything was just perfect. I want to recommend Green Discovery and our guide Prakash Isram to everyone who has an adventurous spirit and is willing to take the challenge called '7 Cascades'. I have no doubt that Prakash will take into account your preferences and level of fitness to make your experience the best possible.

Tamarind falls also known as the 7 cascades is one of the most attractive and captivating waterfalls of Mauritius. Situated on the central plateau near a small village called Henrietta, 7 cascades is well known for its splendid green scenery and valleys. The 7 cascades hiking is a must while visiting Mauritius. Exploring the waterfalls means walking in the dense forest, hiking and swimming.
We organised our guide Wesley at short notice and he was friendly and efficient straight away meeting us an hour after we called him to start the hike at Henrietta. It’s essential to take a guide on this walk so that you get the local knowledge, don’t get lost and stay safe as you navigate the sometimes tricky and steep terrain. This hike has total wow factor with amazing views as you wind your way down the side of the waterfalls. Take time to enjoy the views. We had a half day and managed to the top of the 5th fall. Would recommend a full day to do it justice and ensure it’s not rushed. The highlights are the amazing views, swimming at the bottom of one of the falls and surviving the steep sections both on the way down and as you climb back up. Wesley was extremely helpful and informative ensuring we stayed safe and helping us get fantastic photos at every opportunity He’s easy to contact on whatts app +230 5718 4966 , highly recommended him.

The highest waterfall on Mauritius plunges more than 100 meters down against a scenic backdrop of forests and mountains.
Very good. Beautiful view inside the 7 coloured earth Geopark. Worth the entance fee to the park. Easy walk from carpark.

Slightly off the beaten track, this gem of an attraction was not overcrowded and is a stunning place to visit. The approach - like most of Mauritius currently - is riddled with litter, which is sad. the falls and area around though are kept spotless by what seems to be a self-appointed curator who can also supply visitors with fresh fruit, a coconut or two - and will assist people across the river. We visited twice in December 2019 - once before - and once just after a tropical storm. This afforded 2 totally different experiences. One with the falls utterly delightful and the other rather wild. Swimming in the pool a the foot of the falls is fun and refreshing either way. - Definitely a highly recommended place to visit on Mauritius

Our concierge arranged a private boat trip to the waterfalls which was a great experience. We were also able to have a guided walk up to the top of the falls with a swim in the pools

If one is a nature lover, then a visit to this splendid place is a must. The walk n the waterfall set in nature offers a serene atmosphere. Don't be surprised by the monkeys found around...they seem to enjoy the company of visitors????
