Recently, I visited Vyanni together with a friend. Since our driver chose the wrong way, we arrived there just ten minutes before closing time on a Saturday evening. Olga and Krishan were so lovely and kept their shop open for us, showed us all their fabrics, and took their time to let us do our shopping. Both of us found some wonderful fabrics for home decorating and tailor-made clothes. Vyanni’s material is of the highest quality, and the colours and designs are fabulous. It was hard for us to make a choice from all those superb items :-). This place is an absolute „must have“ when you are visiting the South coast of Sri Lanka! When I was back home, my tailor told me one of the fabrics I had bought was not enough for the trousers I wanted to have. So I contacted Vyanni by mail and asked for a second piece of this fabric in beautiful green shadings. Olga replied within less than 12 hours, informed me that I could get a second piece and about shipping it to Germany. Instantly, I transferred the money and sent a screenshot of the transfer. The next morning, I had a confirmation mail that my order had already been shipped. I have never encountered a prompter and better service and can only give the highest recommendation for this 5-star shopping experience. Thank you so much, Olga and Krishan! I will surely be back soon!

This was my third trip to Sri Lanka and buying tea had always been difficult for me - until visiting the Tea House in Matara. The place is located a bit remotely - about 2.5km from Matara bus stand/Fort and 3.5km from Matara station. I actually enjoyed the walk along Old Tangalle Road, but if walking is not your thing, you'll need a TukTuk. The choice of Tea is not huge, but well selected. You will neither get crappy tea with a fancy name, nor pay excessive tourist prices (those had been my major issues with buying tea so far). Manoj, who runs the shop, is a very friendly and patient person - and he knows his teas. After roughly describing what I was looking for, he came up with some really good recommendations. Even found a Soursop Green Tea for my girlfriend who had to stay back home this time and was nearly crying about missing her favourite fruit. :)

I am commenting on the "Ceylon Gems & Jewellery" shop on 200 Broadway Road, Matara, Sri Lanka.I do not know if it is another location of the same chain or if there are two "Ceylon Gems and Jewellery". This was a small shop with what seemed to be a husband/wife running it. They had a small, but beautiful selection of jewelery and the ability to make something to your specifications if you wished. There was no pressure to buy and reasonable prices. We were there almost a year ago and I am still very happy with the earrings I bought!

Freddie is just a legend. Lovely truly kind and professional. Him and his lovely wife have a little coconut shack on coconut beach In front a some fantastic waves for advanced surfers... where he surfs every morning. We actually witness him helping out to get a girl out of the water who had been injured by the fin of another surfers board. He was truly shaken by this event, no arrogance just kindness. He gave us our first ever surfing lesson, he was patient and calm and managed to make me stand one a board and ride a wave, and that, takes from proper skills from him! ???? Anyway we highly recommend freddy’s lessons and shack for a nice drink in front of the wonderful waves of coconut at surprise and sunset.
