Maryland is known as “America in Miniature” because of its great variations in topography and culture. This makes it a perfect east coat travel destination for those who would like to experience a little bit of everything. From amusement parks, to beaches, to mountains and historical sites, there is plenty to see and do. Each region of Maryland provides its own unique and fun activities to do. If you're headed for some fun in the sun in Ocean City on its eastern coast, be sure not to miss the Ocean City Beach, the Boardwalk, or Trimper's Rides and Amusement Park for an all-ages fun experience. Central Maryland is home to a Six Flags theme park, the Annapolis Golf Club, and countless hubs of art and culture such as the African Art Museum and Annapolis Opera, Inc. Heading to western Maryland? It is perfect for lovers of nature and the outdoors, with the Washington Monument State Park, Wisp Resort ski slopes, and the spectacular Muddy Creek Falls.

If you are near Accident (on purpose or on accident- hahahahaha!), stop by Firefly Farms to get yourself the most delicious cheese! We had previously had the Merry Goat Round at a winery and loved it. We were looking forward stopping in their market. They had many choices of cheeses, wine, bread/crackers, meats. You could easily shop for a great charcuterie platter there! The staff was very helpful in recommendations. We've already dipped into the wood-strapped Merry Goat Round (aged 90 days to sweet, soft perfection, almost like a brie) and look forward to enjoying our others. They also had other local merchants' goods, i.e. honey, spreads. We were happy to hear they now have a store in Whitehall Market in Baltimore and look forward to checking that out!

This is a great shop on the eastern shore, having won the most unique gift shop on the eastern shore by What's Up Magazine. It is a very eclectic shop with something for everyone from a Kid's room with childrens & baby clothing and unique toys and books not found in your big box stores. When you walk into the shop you will find an extensive selection of signs with the ability to custom signs as well as wine glasses, pottery, coasters, and more. The shop is stocked with Woodwick candles, Jim Shore, Willow tree, homemade soaps and candles, wine accessories, and of course what would a shop on the eastern shore be if they didn't sell crab glasses, trays, wine bottle stoppers, napkins, towels and more. A great shop for eveyone in the family with prices unheard of in St. Michaels!

We adore this little shop and come here a few times a year to stock up on olive oils and balsamics. In fact, Olivins oils and balsamics are the only thing we use on our salads and in our cooking now. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and he has a ton of great ideas as far as using the various oils and balsamics in recipes. Definitely a great little shop. Looking forward to our next visit to St. Michael's and stopping in again.

Free books...what could be better? The Book Thing has thousands of books and they are all free! You are encouraged to be greedy. People from all over the Baltimore area donate the books...everything from picture books to cookbooks to fiction. There's a large selection of classics - perfect for teachers wanting to build classroom libraries or find free books for students. They provide boxes but repeat customers bring rolly bags, carts, tote bags, etc. because they know they will be taking home many treasures. The only catch - you can't resell the books. Ever. Giving them away is fine, though! Parking is iffy - plan ahead and try to get there early. There are a few spots in front of the building (where the door is) and otherwise it's street parking. Don't park in back of the building (the lot you see when you approach the building on Vineyard) because the owners will tow you instantly. The neighborhood is fine to park in. The Book Thing would not be popular (which it is, you'll see!) if it were risky to park your car nearby.

Second Looks Books is a family-owned community bookstore, operating in the same location since 1991. Open seven days a week, we offer a wide selection of used books, DVDs, and CDs. We have been selling on the internet since 1998, and we strive to maintain the high standard of customer service we've established in our brick-and-mortar store.

A cute little bookstore with a back area coffeehouse just a few blocks down Maryland Ave from the water. Not really kid friendly but great for adults.
