Amazing clear water, long stretch of beach, plenty of room for everyone from the cruise ship. Great for families, plenty of shade under the trees - can also hand your towel up to dry in between. Buy a coconut for $5, toilets available - were clean and fine. Food and drink options. Worth the bus fare from the port.

We stopped at Mare Island as part of a cruise with Carnival Cruises (separate review done on Carnival who I'd recommend you avoid as a cruise provider). From the moment we disembarked the cruise, we were warmly greeted to the island by the local people and were transported to Yejele Beach. The beach was absolutely beautiful and we experienced both lovely swimming and snorkelling. The local people had food available and the satay sticks appeared a popular choice. The only improvement would be better toilet facilities but overall, we enjoyed the beach. We went for a walk around at Tadine and again, found the coastline very pretty - great for photos. Would recommend a stop at this island.
