The dreamy island that provided inspiration to Chopin and Miró now has a reputation as a spring break beach destination. Don't worry, though, if you're vacationing over elementary school spring break-- there's plenty for the younger crowd. Marineland's dolphin and sea lion shows and children's beach attract families. And if you have a Thomas-obsessed toddler, the antique train that travels between Palma and Soller is a must-see.

A really interesting Bronze Age archeological site, set back from the main road, just after the Cala Pi turning on the road from Palma/S’Arenal. Entrance is 3 euros from the cafe area. There is a route to follow. There are information boards and we were given a printed sheet in English explaining how the site was discovered. The structures are largely intact.

The necropolis is easy accessible by a rented bike or a car from the holiday resort of Alcudia bay and it has a great scenery so you just have to sit and enjoy the sound on the waves. Pay attention, as it is forbidden to sit/climb onto the stones belonging to the late cemetery itself.

unforgettable visit; an old defensive tower situated high on the hill over Port of Soller, you have to walk up there for about an hour, from there you have amazing views

I ran up to the summit several times on a recent holiday and loved every one. The routes and paths are what you should expect when visiting something like this. They're reasonably tough for those less used to hill and mountain walking but it's quite small and doesn't take long to reach the top. The views are exceptional from both peaks (there is a large perteuding rock that you can also access via a path to the rear) and well worth it. As I said though, this is a natural Mediterranean hill with a 3000 year old structure on it, the path will be tricky for small children, people with mobility issues and those not used to rough terrain.

Only site of Roman origin documented in the municipality of Calvia and first Roman villa excavated in Mallorca. It is Imperial period (½ s.I A.C.). Composed of 6 rectangular rooms arranged around a courtyard, where there is a deep well of 4m. The villa would function as a center of agriculture and marine exploitation, and producer of ceramics.
