The Strand Theatre, located in downtown Rockland on the coast of Maine, has been entertaining audiences since 1923. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the theater underwent an extensive renovation in 2005, which included new sound and projection equipment, a fully restored interior and exterior, and a bright new marquee. In 2014, the theater became a non-profit organization and is now owned and operated by the Friends of the Strand Theatre. Today, the Strand Theatre is a multi-use venue offering the best of current first-run and independent films, live musical concerts and comedy, simulcasts, educational programs, conferences, and other special events on our stage and screen.
This almost 100-year-old theatre opened a few years after World War I ended! Today, it is refurbished, and shows films, as well as featuring singers and comedy acts—all at very reasonable prices. The renovated bathrooms are welcome and the concessions are very good. And the people that work there are friendly, too.

ImprovAcadia is closed during the pandemic. We will be pivoting our theater to Bangor Maine and continue to offer world class improvisational theater. Go to our website to see up to date information.
Went with my 16 year old daughter, first time for either of us at improv...so went with no expectations but so glad we went. Both of us enjoyed it, the service and cozy atmosphere was excellent and the performers hilarious! Great job!

Using teamwork, wit, logic, and keen powers of observation and problem-solving, you must find clues and solve a series of puzzles to escape the room in 60 minutes. Each room offers a new, live-action adventure for you and your family, friends, and colleagues. Escape Rooms are a rising entertainment trend that originated in Japan in 2007 and have been popping up in major cities around the world ever since. This attraction is suitable for various groups such as families, sports teams, coworkers, date night, birthday celebrations, girls/guys night out, etc. As a company of four individuals who call Maine their home, we have carefully designed each aspect of this business using our Yankee ingenuity. Our goal is to present an experience to our guests that immerses them in the tasks at hand and leaves them feeling challenged yet satisfied that they just participated in an activity that they will be discussing long after they try and escape.
Wow, what an amazing experience! Our team of four Escape Room veterans tackled all four of these rooms in one day, after having scheduled them according to increasing difficulty rating. We were able to complete all of them ("The Estate", "Alien Invasion", "Uncle Ned's Cabin", and "Escape Your Fears") before time ran out...with the closest being only two seconds left. It's hard to pick a favorite here since there's such a wide variety of puzzles and themes; all of them were executed extremely well and provided memorable immersive experiences. We didn't encounter technical glitches in any of the rooms and the staff was helpful, enthusiastic, and friendly. These are possibly the most attentive game-masters we have encountered so far: requested hints were given almost instanteously and were at just the right level to get us going again...not too hard, and not too easy. And they were obviously paying attention to us every inch of the way because the nudges they provided were timed perfectly. During the celebratory group photo session we were told that another Wizard-themed room is in the making, so we'll watch for that one when we are in the area again!

Fun night it was a nice drive in! We watched Jurassic Park, they’re currently showing all older movies during covid. Recommend bringing dinner to eat in the car. Would definitely go back!

We love going to the movies in Bridgton,Maine. This is a beautiful movie theater. Pub has a large movie screen for games and movies. The food is good but the atmosphere is what I love. Popcorn is always my favorite for in the theater and you can also enjoy an adult beverage while watching your movie. Closed on Mondays and for the Fryburg Fair week.
