Mackinaw City, at the northern tip of the Michigan mitten, sits at one end of the Mackinac Bridge to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, as well as seriving as the docking place for ferries to Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark and State Park. Just a short boat ride from the mainland, Mackinac Island is a journey back in time, home to "Historic Downtown," a recreation of village life in 18th-century Michigan, and Fort Mackinac, first occuppied by the British during the Revolutionary War.

We found this to be the friendliest shop in town. They also had the best selection. Additionally they offer shipping to all parts of the United States. My wife was able to send off a five pack to her mother and friends down in Florida. Good service. Good selection. Shipping options available. We recommend Joanns.

If you want clothing that is quality-made, THIS IS the place to stop. I have yet to find another clothing store in Mackinac City that has the aviance and good quality clothing as Harbor Wear does. As another poster said....this store is in a class of its own. I totally agree. I normally don’t buy sweatshirts for myself because I am an older overweight woman. But I ended up buying one because it was actually flattering and reasonably priced. For the teens that like the “Life is Good” T-shirt’s, this store has a wide variety of designs. My daughter had a hard time choosing which one to choose. Prices on the Life Is Good T-shirts were the same as anywhere else you would buy that brand. They also had Life is Good mugs, hats, and other stuff. We are in Mackinac City often so we know the shops pretty well and this one by far tops most of the shops.

Aaron Murdick's Fudge is located on Central Avenue across from Subway in Mackinaw City. WE have a blue and white striped awning. We are not affiliated with any other Murdick Fudge store. All Murdick Fudge stores are independently owned. We cannot vouch for other "Murdick" stores including those located: on Mackinac Island, Petoskey, St. Ignace, or in the Crossings Mall in Mackinaw City.
We're not fudge connoisseurs enough to judge what may be the best fudge (of the numerous area options), so we'll take the word of those more knowledgeable. What we do find especially interesting, is the history of this shop and its owners (and their lineage). The 8-11-19 TA review being our reference, we stopped in to checkout the shop, and see the home of fifth generation fudge making. The staff were friendly and informative. The shop has a tempting selection of options from which to choose. One can come for the history, and leave with a treat.

I didn’t try their fudge, but I had several things with their homemade caramel and they were fabulous!

Who doesn't love Candy. When I stay in Mackinac City it is always at the Hamilton Inn Select and that's a short walk to Alice's Kandy and Korn. Alice's homemade caramel is the best, whether on their caramel corn or one of their caramel apples. Their fudge is the best in the area, creamy like my grandmother use to make, not grainy with granular suger. I recommend the peanut butter fudge and the pecan logs.

So impressed with the low-key, friendly, and knowledgeable approach of these proprietors! I was greeted in a no-pressure manner twice- just checking on whether I had questions which was appreciated since there was so much variety in the unique items they stocked. But, most of all was when I wanted my husband’s input on a gift for our children and I needed to call him in. I realized it might be getting close to closing time, so I inquired. Her response, “oh 8-ish”. It was exactly 8 o’clock. She was in absolutely no rush and expressed how important it was to meet the needs of the customer! I’m glad we saved most of our shopping $$ for them!

I love looking at the crystals, incense and their jewelry. I have found an abundance of butterfly stuff there too.

This was the greatest place! My friend & I had some time to kill on our way home so thought we'd stop in & so glad we did! The only reason he stayed open was the unusually warm weather (& he must of known we were coming) but this place was awesome & the owner, who was working that day, was so gracious! We sampled candy & fudge & they even had a really old machine that engraved whatever you wanted into a coin-like metal. I even bought a really cute coat & boots there at a price I couldn't refuse! I go to the U.P at least once a year and I will ALWAYS make it a point to stop here! It was so much more than just a souvenir shop - it was an adventure & we had a great time here! Was the perfect ending to a perfect vacation!! Thanks for the wonderful experience & hospitality!!

We had to make an emergency stop in here because I forgot a sweat shirt and it was chilly at night. This store has about every t- shirt, sweater, jacket , jogger pants, shorts you need. And they all have cute little MI sayings and logos. We found a couple of gifts and a sweater shirt for me that was pretty, soft , and a decent price. Even if you remembered your sweater, check this place out, it's pretty cool.
