Touching Belgium on its west and just a few miles from Germany to the east, Maastricht is the capital of Holland’s southernmost region, Limburg. A town rich in history and culture, Maastricht boasts two wonderful town squares: Vrijthof, with Sint-Servaas Church, Sint-Jan's Cathedral and many bars, cafes and restaurants; and Markt, home to the town hall and, on Wednesday and Friday mornings, a fantastic vendor market. The city’s Vestigingswerken, or old town fortifications, are another big draw.

Our private tours are enjoyable, but also safe. Group and private tours with Maastricht highlights and Sphinxkwartier / Frontenpark (for family or couples, 1.5 mtr rule, at 10.30 or 2.30 pm - time flexible on request -, booking possible up to 3 hours before the start, language NL / DE / ENG ; also book for June / July etc. - refundable -). Experience Maastricht highlights in combination with industrial heritage. We visit the highlights but also the old industrial Sphinxkwartier including (partly) Frontenpark. It is a mix of industrial past (ceramic industry), fortification past (1680 - 1870), pure nature, everything completely renovated. A tour of 2 hours gives a good impression of the Maastricht highlights together with this new dynamic industrial quarter in Maastricht. Custom tours for seniors on request. Safe and pleasant privat tour. Pricing per 'group' (family or couple, 1,5 mtr rule, language NL / DE / ENG, start 10.30 or 14.30 h - flexible in time on request -, booking possible up to 3 h. Before start; also bookings for June etc. - refundable -). Be my guest in Maastricht, the most southern city of the Netherlands. I show you the beauty and history of Maastricht and how pleasant live is in this city. The spirit in Maastricht (the city of André Rieu) is amazing. The history of the town is 2000 years old and you will experience that, but also the modern twist and lively atmosphere nowadays with the university, excellent café's and restaurants, the river Maas and Jeker, the churches, town hall, fortifications and industrial heritage.

Pleasant and safe tours in languages NL/DE/ENG at 10.30 or 14.30 h. or time-flexible on request ( family or couple, 1,5 mtr. rule - covid-19 - , booking possible up to 3 h. before start). The tour starts at Helpoort, the oldest preserved city gate in the country ( anno 1229 ). We will explore the streets and parks along the old city wall and see parts from the attractive Jeker quarter including a water mill. Partly we walk over the old wall. Then we go to St. Pieters mountain and see the fortress. A nice walk over the mountain brings us to excellent viewpoints : dreamy Jekerdal, the oehoe owl-valley and the spectacular viewing platform limestone quarry/canyon ( also finish Pietertrail ). With a interval at Hoeve Lichtenberg viewpoint and the Slavante terrace & vineyard we walk along the Maria cave and André Rieu castle back to town. The walk is a mix of heritage and nature. You can customize the tour with a walk through the limestone quarry ( extra 50 min. ).

It was a fun hunt to do with the kids (13 & 8 yrs old). If you book through Trip Advisor, you'll get a code. Then you need a create an account on the provider's web site and enter the code. It was a bit long, but used the helpline and it got answered right away, so was ok. Once you get to the first designated area, it is pretty easy to follow the next steps. We did it over 2 days and took about 1.5 hours each day (we took our time). I gave 4 stars instead of 5, since I would have appreciated a link with google map (or equivalent) to walk through the hunt and show us how to get from one place to another (would be a nice addition). :)
