Things to do in Luxor, Nile River Valley: The Best Hop-On Hop-Off Tours

September 4, 2021 Enriqueta Cusson

The Luxor in Las Vegas is to the actual CITY of Luxor, Egypt, as marshmallow fluff is to fois gras. (We’re sure you knew that. We just enjoy analogies.) Sure, the hotel/casino in Vegas might have a beam of light visible from space, but we bet you'll find a hot-air balloon ride over the Valley of Kings much more illuminating. (Editor's note: Our list was compiled before political unrest prompted many countries to issue travel warnings for Egypt. If you're currently planning a trip to Egypt, please consider the risks and monitor your government's travel alerts.)

Beauty Egypt Travel. The people from here were very nice, took care of me and got me around the city. The guide was Bassem Khames - very knowledgeable with higher education in Tourism and Archeology and who knew many languages including English and French. He took me to the Valley of the Kings – west and east bank and he taught me many facts about the Egyptian architecture, hieroglyphs, customs and habits and took me nice pictures in the temples. And he was also an Orthodox like me ???? it was nice to find people with same religion and habits as in Romania. He also took me to see some local original alabaster family business where I bought beautiful and good quality statues – 6 small statues for 100$. Furthermore, I would like to thank also Ahmed Rauoof – another representative of the Beauty Egypt Travel – that took good care of me and made me feel safe. He also has higher education – went to the Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotels EGOTH and knows a lot of things about history and culture. Ahmed took me to the Karnak temple Sound and Light show (waited for me and assured I have a good time), Banana Island (he explained the customs, described and presented me the famous ships that are sailing on the Nile and took me nice photos everywhere), helped me arrange the Luxor balloon tour and took me from and to the Luxor airport – he assured I am ok and all my check-in procedures were fine.

I highly recommend taking this trip by plane. We booked less than 2 days in advance, there were almost no tickets left. We had business class seats to go. My name was wrong so I had to buy another ticket at the airport, maybe last seat on the plane. The agency was fair and deducted the amount from the total price agreed, very correct! From there, everything went very smooth. We were expected at the airport in Cairo by our guide Zenab and our driver. We had a private tour just for ourselves. We could go at our own pace. Zenab was a great guide and person. She was very welcoming and did her best to please us at all times. Overall, I totally recommend this travel agency, they are very thrust worthy and will guide you from and back to your hotel entrance. Thank you!!
