This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the former capital of Laos, and you'll see everything from golden-roofed temples to vestiges of colonial French architecture here. Buddhist monasteries abound in Luang Prabang, and early every morning, monks process through the streets collecting alms (their food for the day). If you want to watch or participate, though, ask your hotel for a brief etiquette lesson first—you have to distribute the food in a specific manner.

Had an easy day excursion out to Monkey Island. We did it ourselves and it is a decent day out. Definitely take the boat out first to the camp and then walk back as it can get quite complicated to get boat tickets. It is quite a good spot to experience the mangroves and some of the Vietnamese culture as well as the Wildlife. Whilst the monkeys are interesting it is still worth keeping a distance especially with young children as they are wild animals.

We have been to most of the countries in South East Asia and Luang Prabang is one of the city that's quaint, lively and full of history. The hotel we stayed was just 5 minutes away from the night market and cafes and restaurants. We even took the opportunity to walk the Bamboo Bridge built entirely of bamboo. It was also a privilege to pay alms to the monks in the wee morning hours. Truly an experience for everyone.

For a trip in 2/19 Spent a great afternoon with Kai, who not only showed us some off-the-beaten-track gems but provided great tips to find vegetarian food so we could feel more comfortable exploring and trying things on our Thailand vacation. Loved being able to see a variety of places and the tour was well-paced for a hot chiang mai afternoon but participants should still prepare for a bit of walking. Curious carnivores would also enjoy this tour. Lastly I would recommend that vegetarian/vegans in schedule this tour early in yr trip bc you can put Kai's tips to best use

We loved our holiday in Laos. Our guide, Sai from Laos Group Tours, met us at the airport and for the next 8 days, was our constant companion. As well as the wonderful experiences we had cruising the Mekong, imbibing rice wine, offering food to monks, feeding elephants, climbing mountains, swimming in the blue lagoon, visiting schools and a water buffalo dairy which is changing the lives of villagers, Sai offered us genuine insight into life in Laos. He readily shared his extensive knowledge of Laotian history and current affairs, his mastery of English such an asset in communicating with English-speaking visitors. We loved his sense of humour and his thoughtful responses to our questions. Thank you Sai for a fabulous holiday in Laos and thank you Laos Group Tours for your well-structured itinerary.

Emailed the night before to confirm pick up. Picked up from hotel by electric buggy and taken to ferry. Crossed the Mekong and then 20-30 minute drive in the back of a pick up all part of the adventure getting there. The waterfall at the park had dried up as it was the dry season but we had been forwarned about this. Excellent safety briefing and then 1 to 1 instruction on the zip lines. We were the only ones in the first group of the day. Equipment all relatively new and European manufactured. Both instructors were humerous spinning round and zip lining upside down but always focused on our safety. Some nice long lines and a twin line which gave us some good photo opportunities. Only down side of just 2 in the group is we didnt have to wait for anyone so in 40 minutes we had completed the course. We had a cool drink and a wander around the gardens before being taken back to the ferry. We asked to be dropped off in the centre of town not at our hotel and the guide facilitated this. A good half day adventure. Recommend.
