As the French would say, Lourdes, c’est magnifique. Nestled in the southwestern Pyrénees, its status as a pilgrimage center was largely cemented by the sighting of the Virgin Mary at the The Grotto of Massabielle. The city abounds with religious activity, with opportunities to attend mass, say the Rosary as part of the daily Candlelight Procession, or visit holy sites like the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. The Cirque de Gavarnie offers opportunities to experience breathtaking mountain beauty, such as the tiered Gavarnie Falls.

We are travelling from Australia and have previously visited other countries prior to to France which had amazing service and friendlyness. However 5minutes in France we found them to be rude 10minutes in and they were pushing us, 30minutes and pickpocketed. My advice when you get off the train is get back on and try a different country. Try Ireland, England or even Amsterdam. We are counting down the minutes to get out of this thieving, smelly, rude, dirty country Cheers

Cathy gave us exactly what we requested and more in our visit to Lourdes. For non French speakers or those with a limited ability to speak French, Cathy is fabulous. She is knowledgeable in the local history and was wonderful helping my disabled husband access the baths and sights of the Lourdes Shrine. She knows how to help bypass all the tourist lines for those who cannot stand in line. She arranged for all travel for us even during one of the busiest times. She treated us like friends or family, not customers. In a word, she is wonderful, the best tour guide we have ever had.

I had wanted to visit Lourdes ever since I was a child. Our tour guide, Cathy, helped make it an amazing experience. Cathy organized and scheduled the day accommodating the limited time we had since we were arriving from Paris late morning. She finalized plans with us before our arrival to France and I appreciated that she remained connected via email before out arrival in Lourdes. We saw all the locations we expected and never felt rush due to how Cathy arranged the itinerary. Cathy has an incredible wealth of knowledge and it's clear she thoroughly enjoys sharing it.

The city of Lourdes is very well known amongst Catholics and is a popular pilgrimage spot, second only to Rome. It is without a doubt one of the most visited spots in France. It’s only two hours from San Sebastian, which makes a perfect day trip. It is located in the ‘Hutrées Pyrénéese´; a region rich with beautiful scenery, where one can feel the peace of nature and truly relax. The faith and devotion to the Lourdes Virgin compliment the area’s way of life A place of reference for Catholics around the world and the second most visited Christian monument after Rome. The Sanctuary is spectucular and its natural sorroundings are breathe taking.

We really enjoyed this day. We visited a charming winery and were driven by Alex to several spots in the countryside which were fantastic, specially a little romanic church in the middle of nowhere. We also had the chance of visiting a few medieval towns full of history. Really worthy.
This is a great opportunity for christians to visit three nice sanctuaries located in 3 different countries: Montserrat is the main country in the spanish region of Catalonia. You can touch the Black Madona and ask for your miracle. In Sanctuary of Meritxell you will enjoy the small villages and countryside and the story of this beatiful lady, patron saint of Andorra, a tiny country by the Pyrenees. Our Lady of Lourdes is by far the most popular lady and sanctuary all over France. Don't forget to fill up a bottle with holy water from the place the girl Bernadette found Mary, mother of God.

Our local guide (“small” Lawrence) was kind and knowledgeable, and logistics with her and the tour were seamless. Only recommendation would be to cut the wax museum visit (which comes at the end of the day) because by then, you’ve heard Therese’ story a lot and seen “real” sites so the wax museum seemed superfluous.
Visit the world famous Sanctuary of Lourdes on a day full of spirituality. After touring the roads where the Pyrenees are visible, the small mountain town of Lourdes will surprise you with its varied experiences. The castle of Lourdes (Chateau Fort) is visited as the beginning of the arrival in the village, before accessing the Sanctuary. Crossing the door of Saint Michel, with the underground basilica of Pio X and the chapel of Saint Joseph at our side, the Coronado Virgin will receive us as a prelude to the Basilica of Notre Dame and the crypt of the Immaculate Conception to reach the cave where the Virgin appeared before Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. The houses where Bernadette was born and grew up are also very close from the Basilica and are visible as well.
