Hollywood beckons to tourists who long for a brush with Tinseltown glamor. Tour movie studios, slip your hands into the famous prints at the TCL Chinese Theatre, or indulge in a celeb sighting at one of LA’s white-hot nightspots. Spot your favorite star while shopping at The Grove, or forget all about the famous eye candy as you take in the iconic artwork at The Getty Center. For a different type of star-gazing, peek through the telescopes at the Griffith Observatory.

Both children and adults will enjoy viewing sea creatures of the Pacific in their natural habitats here.
My 6-year-old granddaughter loves visiting this aquarium in San Pedro. The highlight of the visit is always the Tidal Touch Pool! The exhibits of various sea creatures and the real skeletons of huge sea animals command attention.

I can't say enough good things about the WLC. I'd heard about this place for years but never managed to go. During quarantine spring break I was desperate to do something fun, outdoors and exciting so I booked the Adventure Tour ($300) for my 12 year old daughter, 10 year old son and myself. It's more than I would normally spend, but we've cut back on so much during the pandemic I could rationalize it. And it was worth every penny. Our private tour guide was Sam. She was friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable and accommodating. We got up close, interactive experiences with a giraffe, a porcupine, a sloth and a tortoise. We all loved feeding them. I have an extensive knowledge of animals and I still learned a lot. As an animal lover extraordinaire, I sometimes avoid animal encounters if I suspect the animals are not being well-cared for. There is no worry about that here. As we meandered through the enclosures, we constantly passed staff, feeding, cleaning and interacting with the animals. The facility looks clean and well cared for. And the backstory of so many of the animals is that they have been rescued as a result of serious injury or being kept as illegal pets, so WLC is their happy ending. I will go back and I highly recommend this wonderful sanctuary to all animal lovers!

Verified Important announcement: The L.A. Zoo will be temporarily closed to the public effective Friday, March 13, 2020 through the end of the month. As a department of the City of Los Angeles, we are following Mayor Garcetti’s city-wide directive aimed at slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We are actively monitoring this rapidly evolving situation and will continue to respond, keeping the health and safety of our community as our foremost concerns. Zoo employees – including animal care and veterinary staff – will continue to report to work in order to care for our animals and facilities. Our animal health experts are in communication with public health officials, as well as local and national veterinary networks, to stay up-to-date on any potential risks to animals in human care.
After visiting a couple other cities’ zoo I realized how special and beautiful the Los Angeles Zoo. Well worth it when visiting the excellent Griffith Park.
