I prefer this to Ocean Shores (which is easier to get to), and all of the places I've visited on the Oregon Coast. This is an unpretentious, middle class coastal town, with spectacular beach and deep American history + good quality restaurants and accommodation. Family friendly for sure, but also nice for romance-couples time. It is a long drive from Seattle, but FAB when you get there. I suspect this might actually be a cool place to actually live in too (and not all tourist towns are). Thumbs up.

Discovery Trail (paved) along the Pacific Ocean Front from Longbeach, WA (North) to Ilwaco, WA (South), limited to bicycles, pedestrains/strollers, dog/pet walks. No horses or motor vechicles allowed. The Discovery Trail goes by Cape Disappointment State Park and two Lighthouses near there. On May 16, 1898, the North Head Lighthouse was put into service as the primary navigation aid at the mouth of the Columbia River. The Cape Disappointment Lighthouse had served this function since October 15, 1856; however, ships continued to run aground at the "Graveyard of the Pacific." AWESOME FUN TRAIL for a bike ride on a fair weather (sunny) day. The area is known for FOG & Cold Rainy Weather (which contributed to a number of shipwrecks over the last 165 years). Discovery Trail is accessible from a number of locations, including 1000 Trails RV (TTRV) Longbeach Campground in Seaview, WA.

We offer guided beach horse rides in Long Beach, WA with magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean; 5 mile roundtrip, one hour ride only $40.00.
We loved our experience with West Coast horse rides! Not only were they accommodating to our reservation change but they were really pleasant to talk to. My husband and I were paired with the perfect horses (Bree and Houston) based on our experience with horses. We loved our guides Maddie and Brandi! We will definitely be back to ride again.

Peninsula Golf Course is located just minutes north of the mouth of the great Columbia River which separates Oregon from Washington. The entrance to the Columbia River from the Pacific Ocean has been dubbed the “Graveyard of the Pacific” due to its treacherous currents and tumultuous storms that have sunk many a ship. Each hole at Peninsula Golf Course is a tribute to 9 of many unfortunate ships and also to the men, women, and children that have lost their lives on the waters of the Columbia-Pacific. When you play our course, you can feel the history of this area and appreciate the true force of nature.

Fabulous staff and very knowledgeable about the equipment and the horses, even the young staff. They match the horses with each person. Helpful to youngers persons as well as the handicapped. Loved the views and the companions. Well worth the thirty dollars. Hard to take pictures when you ride since the horse has a mind of their own and will shift when you are unaware. Had a great time. I do recommend wearing tennis shoes or boots as well as jeans or long pants.
