Things to do in London, England: The Best Sports Complexes

March 18, 2022 Jana Sager

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

Lord's Cricket Ground

Lord's Cricket Ground is known as the Home of Cricket and is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club - better known, throughout the cricketing world, as MCC. Founded in 1787, MCC is the world's most famous cricket club.

This is the best place in the world to watch cricket. It has an unparalleled atmosphere. The views from all round the ground are good. It is however perhaps a little disappointing being in a covered area on a hot sunny day. There are plenty of places to buy food and drink and there are shops selling cricket goods. There is also the Lord's museum which is free to enter on match days and which has lots of memorabilia on the history of the game. The two criticisms I have of the ground is that you can queue for as much as half an hour to get in on a busy match day and the toilet facilities are totally inadequate. Apart from that, this is a must see venue for a cricket fan.

Castle Climbing Centre

First of all, it is very reachable from central London (we cycled from Camden Town/ 20 min) and easy time register in ! (5 mins on an IPad when arriving there). I was visiting for 3 days and was very happy to experience a new activity here! The place is really well thought with a variety of different spaces dedicated to both bouldering and climbing, indoors and outdoors, and gardening! The building is very impressive and much connected to this activity! We enjoyed much the variety of difficulties offered in those walls, and climbing outdoors was very nice even if it was a bit windy. The garden is pretty and well maintained. We tried as well the coffee/restaurant, the j’achète potatoes were small but good, the coffee latte was amazing and served in real mugs (always so much more comfy than plastic cups) and the atmosphere was very friendly. We recommand it!

Yonder is the newest addition to London’s growing climbing scene, but there’s more to Yonder than just a climbing wall. As well as a fantastic bouldering facility, Yonder house's a fully equipped co-work space and workshop, creating a space for people to work, play, create, unwind and become a focal point for all aspects of the local community. Yonder – between a rock and a workplace
