The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

The largest city farm in London with over 32 acres of countryside in the middle of the Isle of Dogs to share with friendly fur and feathered creatures. We pride ourselves on our wonderful collection of British rare breeds and currently have over 200 animals and fowl on our farm!Join us at the farm for events, horse riding, community groups or a family picnic.
We really enjoed our time here. There is a lovely green area to walk aournd, while still seeing the skyline of City. Animals have a great, big enclosures, all look very well cared for, healthy and happy. Farm is selling animal food, so the little kids can come up close and personal with sheep, pigs, ducks, donkeys etc. The restaurant is offering very good range of food, which is amazing value for money and great quality. We had a wondeful lunch here and will definitely be back again. Word of advise - bring wellies :)

A local community Farm, right on the Thames Path in Rotherhithe, across the river from Canary Wharf. Much more than just a Farm, with loads to see and do for all ages. The Farm is open 7 days a week, but on-site Piccalilli Cafe closes on Mondays.
We visited Surrey Docks Farm as it was my dogs birthday and we’d seen online that the farm is dog friendly. My dog, along with us had a great time meeting all the farm animals, she especially enjoyed meeting the pigs and sheep. My one recommendation to the farm would be next year possibly they can look at having a grotto with a Santa for dogs, in other areas around the country it’s been very popular and from what we saw during our visit the farm is already popular with dogs and their families so I reckon it would raise quite a bit for them. If like us you are planning a day out to celebrate your dogs birthday I recommend a visit to this farm along with a cruise on a Thames Clipper and if you have time the Tower Bridge visitor centre is also dog friendly.

Visit Blaze the Shire horse, taste the honey made in our beehives, and buy some fresh farm eggs when you come down to Newham City Farm. One of London's longest established city farms, it boasts a range of rare breeds, exotic birds and farmyard favourites. Day to day you can see the animals and watch the farm staff at work, and it's free to get in.

Established in 1978, Deen City Farm is a registered charity and one of the capital's oldest community run farms. Receiving over 60,000 visits a year, our 5 acre site in South West London is free to enter and includes a farmyard, riding school, garden, café and shop. We are home to animals of all shapes and sizes, including cows, sheep, pigs, goats and our resident barn owl Edna!
I've been to Deen City Farm several times with friends and family and it's always been a fun couple of hours. The staff is friendly, it's perfectly located in the beautiful Modern Hall park and the pet feeding is the highlight. Definitely worth a visiting especially considering its free. Well worth the donation every time.

Vauxhall City Farm is a little piece of the countryside right in the heart of London with all the sights, smells, sounds and experiences of rural life. Our collection of friendly animals includes rare breed sheep, inquisitive goats, woolly alpacas and spotty pigs, not to mention our cuddly ferrets, rabbits and guinea pigs and more! Since 1976 we've been a charity that aims to provide the local community with education services, youth activities, riding therapy, personal development and support programmes and a peaceful escape from city life. Although we don't charge an entry fee we do rely on donations from our visitors to help fund the charity and its' work. The farm and our lovely Old Dairy Cafe are both open from 10:30 - 4:00, Tuesday to Sunday, with the Cafe only also being open from 11:00 - 14:00 most Mondays for lunch. We can't wait to welcome you to the farm come and visit us and our lovely friendly animals soon!
I've been coming here almost weekly with my autism placement, *Sarah, for the last 10 months or so. We are both treated very well by all of the amazing volunteers. Sarah is particularly in love with the guinea pigs and, since the volunteers have gotten to know her better, they let her pet one every time she comes in; it's the highlight of her week. Animals: Over the course of our visits here we have seen horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep and lambs, goats and kids, alpacas, llamas, cats, chickens and chicks (and roosters!), ducks and ducklings, geese, turkeys, cockatiels, budgies, finches, canarys, a sparrow, bunnies, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs and pups, pedigree rats, and a small tortoise! Depending on a few varying factors not all of these animals are always at the farm, but most of these animals are and are always so well cared for. They also mind some peoples pets during holidays. There are animal food pellet dispensers at 20p a handful if you want to make friends! Cafe: The cafe is great, and the staff are lovely. Simple, well priced food. They have gluten free bread on the menu and will do their best to cater to those with any food intolerances. Do note though that I think it is closed from 3pm despite the farm being open until 4pm. Volunteers/Staff: Everyone comes from all walks of life but are all united in creating a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere. It's nice to go somewhere where you feel people genuinely enjoy being, and having you, there. Depending on the day it can be very refreshing! Children: I don't have children personally, but I feel it is a very child friendly (and fun!) environment. The volunteers/staff are always happy to indulge any young, curious minds! There is a place to park buggies, and also a little shop inside next to the cafe where you can buy some toys, colouring in books, etc. Disabilities: The farm is a very accepting place to visit, and I know they're happy to do whatever they can to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. You can always give them a ring or send an email ahead of time if you have any questions as well, the staff are always happy to listen. It's close on foot from Vauxhall station, and a short bus ride from Oval if you're on the Northern line. Come along :) *pseudonym

I organised a workshop for a number of families for us to learn all about bees and how they make honey. Ken, the beekeeper at Hackney City Farm put together a great agenda to engage both adults and children and teach us all about the history of bee keeping, distinguishing the different types of bees in a hive, followed by a trip up to the roof of the cafe to check out the hives. Having played a bit of 'where's Wally' with various pictures down in the education room, the childen were able to identify the queen in the real hives and see a waggle dance in action. It was great to get the kids so close to the action, where they could see nectar and honey in the hive frames, as well as identifying the cell where the next queen bee was developing. The kids also got quite excited about getting to wear the full beekeeping garb. Another task was to find pollinators in action down in the farm's garden. We also had time to cover the wider farm and see the ducks and chickens who had free rein of the yard as well as goats, pigs and ponies. Highly recommend organising a group visit, there is lots of inspiration on their site in terms of the programmes they can run.

This is not just a working farm. It has a cafe which serves great lattes and breakfasts as the portions are big. There’s also an allotment onsite along with a pottery. It’s a nice way to introduce children to farming and there’s enough to entertain them for a few hours. The goats are friendly as they want food from you which you can buy from the cafe. Nice place to enjoy country life without leaving London.
