You’ll see double-decker buses and even the River Thames, but while London, Ontario, has clearly been inspired by its British namesake, this is a distinctly Canadian destination. Attractions like Fanshawe Pioneer Village, Banting House and Eldon House will captivate history buffs. Or indulge your, shall we say, slightly less cerebral side with a tour of the Labatt Brewery.

Living in London and this year being cautious about where we go, it was our goal to explore some of the hiking trails in the city. We parked at the London Tourism Welcome Centre, 696 Wellington Road and walked in. After taking a pic of the map, we decided on the loop that circles Spettigue Pond. 4km in 1 hour, 10 minutes, at a strolling pace. I was happy that I wore running shoes rather than sandals. Lots of tree roots to step over in many areas. Very nice dock overlooking Spettigue to see the size of the pond and take some nice pics. Some small uphill and down. I wouldn't recommend walking here soon after a rainfall. Dirt paths definitely would be slippery.

I love Victoria Park as it is the heartbeat of London. You can picnic or just stroll, great concerts, close to Richmond Row and Downtown plus hotels and shopping.

Gibbons Park is a beautiful area that has something for everyone and has several access points in the Old North area west of Richmond. For those who like to walk/run, bike, board or skate, the park has some great trails that connect to other parks in the city as well as to UWO. If you like to just sit and enjoy nature, Gibbons has several areas with benches both along the river as well as facing the trees. For those picnicers out there Gibbons offers several picnic areas, one of which is covered. There are beautiful trees all over as well as large expanses of lawn to relax, play or exercise/do yoga in. There is both a musical play area for the kids as well as a splash pad and park area which is great for the little ones in the summer. There is also a city run swimming pool that is quite popular in the summer for the older ones and adults. It is a lovely park to enjoy all year round and is large enough that it never really seems crowded.

This is one of London's iconic locations. It includes Storybook Garden for children (and their grown-ups) and you can even skate the Storybook paths in winter. There is a miniature train and a carousel, both outside of Storybook Gardens and many, many venues for family picnics, strolls, walking the dog, or just viewing threes and river and things like that!

Yes, I am bored with sitting at home ... great place to walk around and get out into nature and walk the dog.

Play Away is a meticulously clean playground with clear sight lines, healthy food and free WiFi. 3 storey play structure, racetrack, indoor jumping pillow, toddler area, soft blocks and more.
Love that you can see your kids almost everywhere in this place and lots of healthy snack options. Unfortunately some parents don’t insure kids are following the rules which is annoying.
