Hubbards hills are a secret mini alps, superb walk through the woods then up the paths to the top, fantastic views, then return via the river to the little cafe, No wonder Louth has kept this place quiet and to themselves. Wonderful for families.

I love this area and used to sail here with my father in the 60's and early 70's. This was the first visit since then and I was worried it would be built up and spoiled. I am pleased to say it was as wild and lonely as it ever was. Great views, many different species of birds to see and a fresh and lovely walk with only the sound of the gulls for company.

We thought we would have a general look around on one of the Lincolnshire Heritage Open Days and had a great time for free. There was open motorcycle racing taking place all day - which was fabulous to watch as a motorcycle fan. The circuit is large but easily walkable to view from all aspects of the landscape. A challenging circuit I would imagine!

This pleasureboat goes up the old fossdyke canal from Brayford Pool Lincoln (where there are several pub restaurants, There is a commentary on Lincoln history as it goes past house boats and into the country. It is an one hour trip.
My wife and myself enjoyed a very pleasant trip on board The Brayford Belle, the boat was expertly piloted by Monna who also gave an interesting commentary along the way.

Before the railways were built, ships sailed inland as far as Shardlow. Torksey Lock was the scene of much activity as ships and shallow bottomed barges called ketches passed through. Today it is still a working river but now better known as a wonderful place to spot wildlife, perfect for a visit with the kids.
Visited the café today with a friend and enjoyed two cups of coffee and two hot chocolate drinks and sampled the very nice spicy sausage rolls. All very good value for money. We were greeted with smiles and great service. The only noise we heard were the birds! The surroundings are beautiful and there is a nice level walk both along the River Trent, across fields and back along the Canal around 13 miles in total. This is a very nice quiet spot to sit outside and let the world go by, plenty of seating both inside and out if weather inclement. I will certainly be visiting again soon.
