The old Burgundian university town of Leuven offers a range of adventures for overnight visitors or day-trippers from Bruges and Brussels. Tourists will find everything from gastronomic tours to architectural gems like the Gothic Town Hall. Nature lovers won’t be disappointed. The Kruidtuin Botanical Garden’s herbal gardens are the oldest in Belgium, and Heverleebos, a “city wood,” offers a respite for urban dwellers. The exploring is easy in Leuven, on foot or on one of the ubiquitous bikes.

Rock Cafe is the place to be for the harder rock or metal lovers. A nice but harder style of bar with experienced friendly bartenders. This bar is mostly visited by locals, people that just want to chat, have a beer and a good laugh. On the first floor is Room 66 where local bands frequently play live music, mostly during the weekends. You can ask the bartender for information about the next gig!
Nice place for rockers and metalheads. Good beer menu - only local beers. Music is as it says - rock, metal. Bar ground floor is small. But they do have one more floor for events. It does not work everyday. I liked the staff - an owner was at the bar so he told me more about history of the bar and regular visitors :)

I often travel to Leuven for business, and enjoy having a couple drinks after dinner. I discovered Bar Rustica last year, and found this bar was more welcoming than other bars in the area. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the bartenders seem to enjoy making the perfect drink or cocktail. I will continue to visit!

Wow, what a choice. I ended up asking the waiter for his recommendation and he came up trumps! We sat outside as the weather was good in very pleasant surroundings. Good quick table service and, as we are still dealing with covid, the bar was very covid-aware. I hope to return!

The interior invites to enjoy a variety of unique or classic cocktails with a group of friends or in a more intimate atmosphere. Tuesday till Saturdaynight, a DJ transforms the bar/lounge in to a real club starting at 22h.
