The historic Genesee Theatre is a 2,400 seat entertainment venue located in Waukegan, Illinois. Located along the northern shore of Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee, the Genesee Theatre is a hub of activity for Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Hosting a variety of music, comedy, and dance, the Genesee marks Waukegan as a destination for high-quality entertainment once reserved for major cities. The Genesee was built in 1927 as a vaudeville stage and movie palace before being restored in 2004 to its modern glory as a live entertainment venue boasting one of the largest stages in the Midwest, an acoustically dynamic auditorium, and a beautifully restored grand lobby for intimate and elegant events.

We were at Marriott Theater recently for Oliver! It was absolutely fantastic. The performance was great. The actor playing Oliver Twist was fantastic. Kai Edgar was playing the roll on this visit, and he was excellent. Amazing that an eight year old had such emotion and his was singing was excellent. The venue was excellent as well. It is such a intimate setting. We were sitting on an aisle and at the beginning of the show when the boys are singing "Food Glorious Food" they were right next to us. So cool. It was our first visit to Marriott Theater, and we will definately be back.

Lipizzaner Stallions have been enchanting audiences for 450 years. Witness art and history come to life at one of our Matinee or Evening Performances or during a Behind-The-Scenes Tour (available by appointment only). From the playful bounding of new foals to the strong, precise jumps of our stallions, the whole family will be captivated by the strength, beauty, and intelligence of these horses. Each performance, to music, is a study in classical horsemanship which has been practiced in Europe since the 16th century; the Lipizzaners have been performing at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria since the 1500’s. There are very few places in the United States where such an art can be observed. We offer a taste of Vienna, Austria right in your back yard. Performances begin mid June and run through mid September.
First I don't understand the negative reviews. It appeared these individuals knew something about dressage, etc. You must judge by what you see. It's not easy doing synchronized riding on stallions no less. If you want to see perfection then go to a horse-show. I particularly loved the showing of the mares and foals where they actually turned the foals loose in the dressage arena and they were able to interact with each other. It was priceless. We opted for the Wine/cheese and cracker brunch and were able to talk to one of the owners. Very refreshing since we flew in from El Paso, Texas our closest major airport from southern New Mexico. Seeing the Lipazzan Stallions has always been a dream. I would love to go to Vienna to the Spanish Riding School.

Palette, Masque and Lyre Inc (PM&L Theatre) has been a staple of entertainment in downtown Antioch for six decades. Formed in 1960, our community theatre has grown from its humble beginnings in a converted vaudeville venue to a modern facility built to delight our audiences of all ages. PM&L runs a full season of plays, musicals and comedies each year drawn from our rich tradition while always introducing fresh contemporary and modern shows. In 2015 we acquired the building next door in order to convert it to Tribute Hall, a fresh new lounge and concessions area. We're proud to be part of the Antioch and Lake County community and invite you to visit and see the enjoyment of live entertainment for yourself. Listed hours are for our box office only, performances are on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
My husband and I attend shows several times per year. The theatre offers a wide selection of shows over the course of the season and ticket prices are reasonable. After the renovation which was completed a few years ago, restrooms and a concessions area are more accessible for people with limited mobility.

Ravinia is a gem. The entertainers that are brought to the venue are varied and of course talented. The pavilion has no bad seats. Good sight lines throughout. The lawn is first come first served. Bring your own food and drinks and enjoy the lawn. If it’s rained bring an extra blanket to put on ground or tarp to keep space dry. Many bring candles to keep bugs away and create ambiance. We’ve never had a bug problem. Food and chairs can be easily purchased at Ravinia. Or bring your own. Parking in lots nearby are limited. But parking is available in lots 5-10 minutes away with free bus service. Or the Metra train stops at the park. On a nice night Ravinia is a gem.
