Læsø is the largest island in the North Sea bay of Kattegat, and is located 19 kilometres off the northeast coast of the Jutland Peninsula, the Danish mainland. Læsø is also the name of the municipality on that island.

When this farmhouse was acquired as a museum in 1938 the last inhabitant was still living in the house. She died in 1949, so the house stands exactly like it did when she was still living in the house. That makes the visit so powerful because you can really see how someone was still living less than 70 years ago. We biked there which was a very nice trip. You cannot buy food or beverages there, but there are restrooms.

We truly enjoyed our visit here. A piece of proud Danish history here. Well worth your time. No entry fee. Superb giftshop for you to visit to support the local traditions. This place is even a UNESCO World Heritage site

You get to see an old seaweed house on the inside. The entrance is free. From here you can walk a route where you see a lot of seaweed houses.

Læsø Museum is a local cultural museum. The museum pays special attention to the singular style of building on Læsø with seaweed roofs as the most characteristic, but also in the merchant shipping and fishing around the Island falls under the museum's operation and assembly area. Læsø Museum exhibits the great 1600-century silver coin treasure found on Læsø. Local History Archive is affiliated the Museum.

Laesoe Art Hall is a venue for contemporary Danish and international art. We also arrange the Laesoe Litterature Festival every first weekend in August. The season in 2014 opens on the fourth of July.
