You can drive up or hike, just be aware some taxi drivers may not take you to the very top or come all the way up to pick you back up. Once you get to the base you can climb all the way to the very top which makes you feel like an extreme rock climber when really you're just mildly terrified of falling to your demise. If you go at night, you can make a fire with your friends and tell ghost stories and see the lights of La Paz. 10/10 would most likely recommend. I would suggest not going by yourself though because there can sometimes be creepers up there. Just be aware.

I always enjoy visiting Valle de la Luna. My in-laws live in San Miguel, so it's an easy trip and wonderful way to spend a couple of hours on a nice day. I also recommend lunch at Hotel Oberland a few kilometers down the road on the way to Mallasa.
Carolina (Cordon Bleu chef) and Myself lived abroad (New york and Paris) let us show why we left the best cities and choose La Paz. We'll explain some history of bolivian pastries and talk about paceno culture. We will start the class in the bronce decorated kitchen. Jawa, Llaucha, Pastel frito, Cunape and sonso with Api or Tojori and enjoy together. (speak french too)
