Kythira (/kɪˈθiːrə/, /ˈkɪθɪrə/; Greek: Κύθηρα [ˈciθiɾa], also transliterated as Cythera, Kythera and Kithira) is an island in Greece lying opposite the south-eastern tip of the Peloponnese peninsula. It is traditionally listed as one of the seven main Ionian Islands, although it is distant from the main group. Administratively, it belongs to the Islands regional unit, which is part of the Attica region (although at large distance from Attica itself).

Let’s wander around! There is an ancient path that used to connect the three villages and it’s ours to discover! This uncompromisingly scenic semi-private tour takes you through paths and fields starting from Pyrgos and leading through to the hidden village called Potamos with its small farmers’ houses. Our path leads us to Emporio with its narrow alleys and picturesque houses, where we can find a Venetian castle and fortress dating from the Middle Ages that will leave you speechless. Emporio is the largest settlement of Santorini. In fact, its strong medieval character and the Kasteli are well preserved and radiate the Cycladic character of its architecture. Our path will lead us through the fortress to a traditional settlement. Charge your cameras and cell phones because you will be snapping many photos on this private tour! On our way back, a mini-van will wait for us for the drop-off.
Inclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, Bottled water, Dry fruits, Fresh fruits, Bottle of water, Map of Santorini

Amani guides you around the the little villages of Santorin and you soon will find yourself imagining how farmers in "the old days" were trying to make a living at this beautiful but very dry island. How did they cultivate wine here and what makes it so special? And how did they manage to build those houses alongside the hills? A pleasant way to find out is to book this tour and meet a guide who is really burning for the history of everyday life in the little villages of Santorin. We had a great day!

We arranged private tour around Crete with Moysidis travel company. Tour was well organized and in very professional manner. We saw so many exciting things in such a short time. It was very relaxing and at the same time fun. To travel on your own time schedule, stopping at different places taking pictures without being rushed is the way to travel. No excessive stops either to get bored. Everyday was organised towards our wishes, interests and capability. I would certainly travel again with this company and recommend you too. Our tour begins in the village of Mylopotamos, situated to the west of Kythira.Mylopotamos is one of Kythira’s oldest villages and for this reason it has been declared a traditional settlement by the Archaeological Service. We will start our tour at the castle of “Kato Chora” which is located in the oldest neighborhood of Mylopotamos, about 1.3km from where we disembark the coach. On our way to the castle we will pass through the center of Mylopotamos and see the old English school in the square. After we visit the castle, we will explore the old houses and numerous chapels, which were still being used as late as the 1950’s. From here, you have an unrivalled view of the gorge and the sea to the west of Kythira; surely one of the best views on the island. On the way back to the village, we will visit the impressive “Fonissa” waterfall, where the water used to fall from a height of 15 metres.

Our tour begins in the leafy village of Karavas in the north-east of Kythira. We will make a short stop to take photos and visit the village’s small, yet famous bakery. From here, we will travel south to the center of the island and visit Mitata, the village that was badly damaged by the 6.9 Richter earthquake in 2006. On our arrival we will have an optional visit to the old olive press “Fava’s Liotrivi” (2€ entrance fee). This was one of the oldest olive presses on the island and it has been recently renovated by Eleni Protopsalti and Kostas Pavlakis, the grandchildren of the original owner. Here you can learn about the history of olive oil production on Kythira and watch a short time-lapse video of how the press was rebuilt. You can also purchase some of the local Kytherian products, or even some of the recipe books written by Mr Pavlakis that include traditional Kytherian recipes.
