Kutaisi (Georgian: ქუთაისი [kʰutʰɑisi]; ancient names: Aea/Aia, Kotais, Kutatisi, Kutaïsi) is the legislative capital of Georgia, and its 3rd most populous city. Situated 221 kilometres (137 miles) west of Tbilisi, on the Rioni River, it is the capital of the western region of Imereti. Historically one of the major cities of Georgia, it served as the capital of the Kingdom of Georgia in the Middle Ages, and later as the capital of the Kingdom of Imereti. The Parliament of Georgia moved to Kutaisi in 2012, in an effort to both acknowledge the status of the city, and to decentralise the Georgian government.

A real organic Georgian tea farm, built on the old abandoned tea plantations. You can walk on the tea terraces while enjoying the scenic views on river Rioni and Caucasus mountain range. If you visit during the harvest season, that lasts from May to September, you can also visit the factory and see, how the fresh leaves are processed into various types of tea. The factory and plantation are easily accessible and just short 20 minutes drive from Kutaisi central square.

The most interesting church I've ever visited! Beautiful paintings with natural colors, interesting history and kings graves. Nice guide who spoke only Germany, but slowly enough for a Nordic citizen to understand

The Colchis Fountain is smartly designed, with about 30 enlarged copies of Colchis jewelry on blue mosaic pedestals, with, of course, spouting water.

Great walk bridge over the river. Sections have been covered with glass so that you can see the magnificent structure underneath as well as the fast flowing river. Lots of designs on the floor as you walk across as well as writing which I presume tells of its history.
