Explore ethnic cultures, ancient civilizations and other topics relating to Siberia's history at this recently renewed and expanded museum, originally founded in 1889.
I visit this museum every time i come to Krasnoyarsk, and this summer is not an exception. I like the USSR history installation and the exhibition of posters. Also, there are natural-size installations about nature of Siberia, animals that lived and live in forests and plains. You need approximately two or three hours to look through all exhibitions. The museum provide you an excursion, however as i study Russian language, i listened it in Russian, thus, i could not say anything about tours for foreigners. There is a small canteen in the museum, but we were advised by the stuff to visit the coffee shop "British scientists" which is located on Mira street. The food served in canteen leaves much to be desired, probably that is the reason why we were advised to have a coffee break somewhere else. As for the whole museum complex, you may be interested in the exhibition on the ship, which is a part of a "national history museum" if you are into Russian and soviet culture! I like discovering new all the time in both of these locations!
