Krasnodar is home to one of the only surviving hyperboloid towers designed by Vladimir Shukhov, who was one of Russia’s most important structural engineers. The steel lattice structure is a cool contrast to the surrounding old world cathedrals and colorful arboretums. Krasnodar has several museums, concert halls and theaters, plus the largest splash fountain in Europe.

The square was opened in 1932. Before that, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was located in its place. The park is landscaped with benches, beautiful flower beds and lawns. On the territory of the park there are: church-chapel of St. Alexander Nevsky, memorial arch "They are proud of the Kuban", bust of Marshal of the USSR G.K. Zhukov, a fountain with light-music, Bellini restaurant. On the arch, you can see the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory, Heroes of the Russian Federation, Heroes of Socialist Labor and full holders of the Order of Labor Glory. In the mid-1990s, an equestrian sculpture of George the Victorious was erected at the top of the arch, and in front of it is a bust of the commander Georgy Zhukov. There is a large bunker under the square, which is currently inaccessible to the public. The park often hosts exhibitions of folk art and other cultural events.
