The misty hills, lush teakwood and sandalwood forests, and acres of tea and coffee plantations of Kodagu are, in a word, stunning. Also known as Coorg and dubbed "The Scotland of India," Kodagu is a postcard-perfect region of scattered villages and hamlets, which are the epitome of old-world charm. Kodagu is ideal for outdoor activities such as trekking, angling and white-water rafting, and major festivals like Keil Poldu (worship of weapons), Cauvery Shankaramana (return of the river goddess) and the Huttari (harvest) festival are a huge draw.

We reached Somwarpet around 4.30 pm which didn't give us much time to go sight seeing. Our hostess suggested that Honnamma kere was our only option. It's a lake amidst the Lovely greenery and hills and a Devi temple overlooking it. It's open till 8 pm and has enough lighting to enjoy the place. It was really beautiful and a tranquil place with only a few locals visiting the temple as it was Aashada Friday. The temple has its own history which was told to us by the priest. We just sat there gazing at the Beautiful and tranquil lake. Nothing much to do. It was a good place to see though.
