The Kansai region (関西地方, Kansai-chihō) or the Kinki region (近畿地方, Kinki-chihō) lies in the southern-central region of Japan's main island Honshū. The region includes the prefectures of Mie, Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyōgo and Shiga, sometimes Fukui, Tokushima and Tottori. While the use of the terms "Kansai" and "Kinki" have changed over history, in most modern contexts the use of the two terms is interchangeable. The urban region of Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto (Keihanshin region) is the second-most populated in Japan after the Greater Tokyo Area.

We recommend our "Electric power assist bicycles"Because... 1:It's as easy as riding a conventional bicycles, but easier! 2:You won't run out of breath when cruising uphill. 3:It's quiet and environmentally friendly compared with motorbike. 4:It's FUN!! 5:All "Electric power assist bicycles" are JAPAN products(YAMAHA and Panasonic). 6:There are many sights to see in Kyoto. However, there are many uphill slopes, too.*"Electric power assist bicycle" :While the bicycle is being pedaled, electric power assist is working.

Found J-Cycle via my Maps.me app. Hired an electric bike for 5 hours for an afternoon. Employees were very friendly and showed me how the bike worked and gave me a map to follow. the map has many route suggestions. Once out of the busy city streets of Kyoto found the footpaths very wide with bike lanes etc. Road to the Golden Temple (took approx 45mins - free parking for bike) then on to Philosopher's Path, cycled along the river then back to return bike. Open till late. You can also hire bike for 2 days if you wish.

"Do you know cycling in Kyoto is a great fun?"Bicycle is the best way of transportation in Kyoto. No need to wait for trains, buses and taxies. The easiest and most exciting way to travel is RENTAL BICYCLES!!The shop is located near Kyoto station -only 2 minute from the station, so you can start enjoyable cycling as soon as you arrive in Kyoto!!
My husband and I rented electric bicycles from Kyoto Eco Trip for two days and had a great experience. The bike were in good shape and they came with a double battery so that we could keep them overnight and the bikes would stay charged. Eguchi-san was so helpful, he suggested the best bike routes and even found covered bike parking near our hotel. Kyoto Eco Trip offers a bag drop service so we were able to get off the train, rent the bikes and begin to explore Kyoto right away. Later in the evening, when we arrived at our hotel, our bags were there waiting for us. It was a great experience.

We love Kyoto and we love the world of the maiko! It is our pleasure to provide a lasting and fun experience through traditional Kyoto culture. At our studio you can turn yourself into a maiko complete with real traditional wigs, kimonos, obis, shoes and accessories. And then you can have a studio portrait taken, take your own photos and walk around on the amazing old streets that are just minutes from our front door. Our staffs extend a warm welcome to you. We are located in a traditional 100-year-old machiya townhouse, sitting in the heart of Kyoto's legendary Gion district. The most famous home of the maiko in all of Japan surrounded by traditional restaurants, ryokans, tea houses, shrines and more. Our make-up room and entire machiya townhouse is clean, comfortable and elegant. Our amenities and facilities were designed to create a perfect experience from start to finish. Let us turn you into a Japanese maiko. What to bring: - Your own cosmetics. We provide the cosmetics for the maiko experience but not for afterwards. - Your camera. We take studio photos but also give you time to take more photos on your own.
I can't rate this place enough. From start to finish it was an amazing experience. The staff were all lovely and very attentive. The experience flowed smoothly and I had the most amazing time. The make up was fantastic and there were many kimonos to choose from. The packages are very fairly priced and the photos you get at the end are fab. No one pushes you to buy anything extra, which makes you feel at ease. I'd go back and get it done all over again if I had the time. There was an apprentice photographer who was so sweet and gave me a special photo and origami for my birthday. I'd highly recommend the experience!!!!!

I rented a bike from dinner today- it was amazing! I was helped by very friendly staff who asked about where I was heading, recommended some additional stops, mapped out a route for me, and gave me the map and handy tips on how to get around Kyoto by bike! I had a wonderful day. The bike was such a great way to get around. Sometimes bike parking isn’t obvious but the fuune team had showed me where I would need to pay and where I could park for free. I got back to the shop after 6 and locked the bike up - hassle free. I couldn’t recommend this highly enough.

I was tempted to Japan from Scotland by a surprisingly affordable airfare. Not a country I would have initially considered for a cycling holiday. Not wanting the hassle of bringing my own bike I opted for a bike hire and all roads led to Glowbalwheels. Even for me, a confirmed technophobe, everything from booking, payment, arrangements, bike pick-up etc. was straightforward and hassle free. I hired a road bike and it was ideal for my requirements, small frame in excellent condition. My 12 day route took me to Kyoto, around Lake Biwa, then a loop along the coasts of Mie and Wakayama. Usually staying a couple of nights (hostels and airb&B) in each location. Cycling in Japan was a revelation while the cities are a huge urban sprawl the countryside and coast is pure magic. All my concerns regarding language, food, traffic, costs were proved wrong. I would definitely do it all again and I have no qualms about recommending Globalwheeels, excellent service and a great bike.
