Centering around massive Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest peak and the world's tallest free-standing mountain, rising to nearly 20,000 feet), the national park protects the area above 8,850 feet. On ascent, the mountain's foothills morph into lush forests, serving as home to elephants, leopard and buffalo. Further up are moorlands covered in giant heather, then alpine desert land. Higher still come the ice and snow that make Kilimanjaro famous. Hikes to the top (Uhuru Peak) take six to seven days.

The Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey” route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep, and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore this route is better suited for more adventurous folks or those with some high altitude, hiking, or backpacking experience. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the south, beginning with a short drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. The path leads hikers through the rain forest to Shira Plateau. Here, many of Kilimanjaro’s routes converge. Then the route turns east and traverses underneath Kilimanjaro’s Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before Summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route. offers Machame as a seven-day group climb or as a six-day private climb. The six-day variation combines days four and five, going from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp without staying at Karanga.

We highly recommend touring with OneBike. In the planning stages, OneBike staff were excellent communicators who were flexible and accommodating in tailoring a 3-day tour to meet all of our goals. The trip itself exceeded our expectations on every front by combining biking with a traditional safari and cultural program. It was amazing to bike amidst safari animals, interact with local people and learn about Maasai culture. A wide range of cyclers can partake, even kids, because those who want a break can ride in the support vehicle. Hillary and Octavian were friendly, professional, knowledgeable guides who shared fascinating information about the area's flora and fauna as well as the local and tribal cultures, while Octavian was an experienced, careful and safe driver. We stayed in beautiful lodges with comfortable accommodations and delicious, locally grown food. If you like biking and outdoor adventures and want to have a new experience that is a twist on traditional the safari, go with OneBike!

Majestic Mount Kilimanjaro is the awe-inspiring landmark of Tanzania but you don’t need to climb it to experience its full beauty and the captivating terrain that surrounds it. Our Sneak Peek of the Peak Hike is a Kilimanjaro day trip that gives you the opportunity to scramble up the first leg of the famed Marangu Route, through rainforest twittering with birdlife and chattering, curious blue monkeys. Watch out for a colobus or two!
Inclusions: Lunch, Bottled water, Snacks, Private transportation
Exclusions: WiFi on board
We Spent about an hour trying to spot animals and when we saw them it came of sudden. Elephants, warthogs, buffalos, monkeys, crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, different antelopes, various birds, hyenas and lions!! Our guides have a huge knowledge about the nature and to find different wildlife. They stop whenever the tourist wants to take a picture on any animal. The flight to Selous was great too...Great experience!!!!

Kilimanjaro Machame route is highly recommended for high altitude acclimatization gain. It is the route of choice for many people making it the most popular route because it provides impressive views and a variety of habitats. It is also one of the cheaper routes due to its easy access and shorter itinerary. The Machame route is also known as the Whiskey route, given its reputation for being a tough climb but it does not require technical skills where first time trekkers use the route as well and do fine, in contrast to the easier Marangu route, which is known as the Coca Cola route. Unlike the gradual incline and hut accomodations found on the Marangu Route, the climbers on Machame hike steeper trails, for longer distances, while camping and sleeping in tents.

I had the pleasure of flying with Tupo Travel as our tour operator. It was truly spectacular; the Kilimanjaro views were breathtaking. Our pilot was very knowledgeable and gave us details and the formation about the mountain as we went around flying, he gave a good commentary of what we were seeing, and the ride was comfortable. Mary's genuine enthusiasm was contagious, and everyone we met was friendly and was happy to see us. I was nervous about flying in a helicopter, but I had nothing to worry about with my friends around. Our flight over and around Kilimanjaro was one of the highlights of our trip. I could tell that the pilot was very experienced, the take-off and landing was smooth and the flight itself very relaxing. We had a great time. One of the best ways to see Mount Kilimanjaro and the neighboring national parks. I highly recommend this Tupo Travel Audrey and Friends

Our last minute, 8 night safari at the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater area couldn’t have been better! Brian was attentive from the moment I sent my first email to Staajabu Travel. He was originally scheduled to provide a guide for our full day game drives at the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater, as well as providing transport from the Serengeti to the Gibbs Farm, near the Ngorongoro crater. But as flights canceled, Brian made recommendations, and rerouted us to make sure we were able to maximize our time in the parks. When we landed at Kilimanjaro airport we were greeted by Brian and our incredible guide, Freddy. Instead of catching our flight the next day from Arusha to the Serengeti, as it canceled at the last minute, we decided to drive. 7 hours one way, breaking it up with an overnight in Karutu. It was an excellent way to get a jump start on our trip, see the beautiful country and avoid any other potential travel disruptions. We spent six full days on safari with our guide Freddy and we learned so much! He was an absolute joy! Brian handled every curve ball that was thrown at us, and even coordinated the Covid test that was required for our return trip through Kenya. We enjoyed our stay at the Four Seasons and Gibbs Farm and would highly recommend working with Staajabu travel for all of your Tanzania travel needs!

The Lemosho Route is typically completed in 8 days. This is a great option if you want a longer trek for acclimatization. It connects with the Machame Route at Shira 2 Camp. The drive to trail head is about 4 hours. Note: Arusha offers more hotel choices for pre- and post-trek accommodations. If you would prefer to overnight before and/or after your trek in Arusha, let us know, and we quote a special private transfer for you between Arusha and Kilimanjaro. The pre-trek mountain orientation with your guide (the evening before your trek) would still be scheduled, we'd make the arrangements.

We had the best time on our 5 days safari tour with Summit 2 sand safaris. We went to Arusha National Park, Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. The communication with David and the staff was easy and quick response. Very helpful and able to make last minute changes. Dirija was our driver/guide. He was very knowledgable, drove safely, we had a great time with him. He did his very best to find animals we wanted to see. We saw tons of animals, about 50 lions, big heirs of elephants, zebras, giraffes, hypos, worldebeasts, crocs, flamingos, etc. The accommodations were perfect. Nice big tents and lodge, well located. Food was good too, plenty food and water. The jeep was a little old but worked without problem, no air conditioning but didn't really need it. We had an amazing experience and would most definitively recommend it. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you to everyone at Summit 2 sand safaris, special thank you to David!

This is the best tour in Mountain Kilimanjaro guided by the experienced guides for all languages. Our team is well organized and friendly to all climbers. Our meals and drinks during the trip are prepared by professional chefs who consider your preferences and choices. The number of climbers who climb via this route all reach at the summit if guided by our team which is rich in providing helpful information and techniques which help climbers to summit easily with us. Also, we provide private tents to sleep instead of congesting our customers in a single tent. This give a good feeling to our customers and they keep happiness all the time.

The trip to Kilimandjaro was very nice and well organized from the day we took the transfer from Moshi to Lemosho trail. In the first day the trip was very beautiful passing through the farmlands, forests until getting to the shira plateau. In other treks at Moir hut, Barranco, and Barafu camp. Though the way to Barafu had a little challenge unlike other days. The summit night was great with some long ascending hours and descending but it was generally the good experience. We could not make it well if not good cooperation from the Bayango Tours team since we arrived at the airport and transferred to the hotel. In the mountain I also enjoyed the bananas soup mixed with meat it was very nice especially during the cold times in the mountain. For safari also it was a great moment to see Tarangire park, Ngorongoro crater, Serengeti park and the Hadzabe tribe. I liked the way little zebras were running, elephants and ostrich. I can generally recommend this tour as we enjoyed it with my friends.
