Things to do in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan: The Best Outdoor Activities

September 2, 2021 Jasper Kershner

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (abbreviated as KP; Urdu: خیبر پختونخوا‬‎; Pashto: خیبر پښتونخوا‎) is one of the four administrative provinces of Pakistan, located in the northwestern region of the country along the international border with Afghanistan. It was previously known as the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) until 2010, and is known colloquially by various other names. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the third-largest province of Pakistan by the size of both population and economy, though it is geographically the smallest of four. It comprises 10.5% of Pakistan's economy, and is home to 11.9% of Pakistan's total population, with the majority of the province's inhabitants being Pashtuns, Hazarewal, Chitrali, and Kohistanis. The province is the site of the ancient kingdom Gandhara, including the ruins of its capital Pushkalavati near modern-day Charsadda. Originally a stronghold of Hinduism and Buddhism, the history of the region was characterized by frequent invasions under various Empires due to its geographical proximity to the Khyber Pass.

Mushkpuri Top

Reviewed By ZahidQureshi - Islamabad, Pakistan

Hi every one, Mushkpuri Top is a very refreshing place to visit. When you reached Donga Gali, there you have to park your vehicles. Then it starts the track straight up to Mushkpuri planes. The track is not easy if you are going with your family. It took almost 2 and half hours with family to reach at the top. Although its a bit difficult track but its much refreshing as there are natural greenery and tall trees. Once you reach, you experience an amazing world and forgot all the tiredness you faced during the climbing of track. There are green planes to walk, and off course you can enjoy cooking and camping as well if you plan to stay over the night. I went last month in June 20, 2020. There was not too much crowed due to Covid-19, but you can enjoy there if you love nature. As it is very high place near about 9243 feet above sea level, so the best season to go there is from April to August. The rest of the year it is covered with snow. But you can still go there if you can climb and walk in the snow, but it is quite dangerous and i will not recommend. My name is Zahid Qureshi, and you can ask me any thing regarding this visit on my cell number +923347206661. Good Luck, Enjoy and discover the nature. I am also going to post some pictures of Mushkpuri planes during my visit.

A must do for anyone who visits the area - just 2.5 hours from Islamabad - begin in Dungagali Bazar and ends in Ayubia - 4 kms one way - it’s called the pipeline walk because it traces the route of the water pipeline laid by the British for the area in the early 20th century - don’t forget to look out for the time markets and British Army signias at the Ayubia end of the walk - also has covered benches along the way where one can seat and have a meal The walk has no incline and hence is very easy for people of all ages

Mahodand Lake

Reviewed By blogby_aws - Lahore, Pakistan

A jeep track of about 3 hours from Kalam. The first destination of this tour was the Ushu Forest. Almost 4 KM of road in between the forests presenting the views we dream to be at while watching those Romantic Movies. From there we headed to a small village Matiltan after which the Mahodand Lake road starts. We kept on moving on the Jeep track with ushu river flowing on our left side throughout the journey. In the way are the beautiful Mighty 22 Falls. The picture doesn’t tell how beautiful this place was. Reached Mahodand Lake at about 2:30 Pm. The place was Lush green with a lot of Horses and Cows. #Nature The wind was cool in-fact we had to wear our Thin jackets even at that hour. We enjoyed the lake covered with Mountains from all ends for 2 hours.
