Ketchikan, one of Alaska's most Southeastern cities, is the first stop for many cruises on their way to more Northern climes. A stay in Ketchikan itself can be rewarding, however, as the city is the gateway to Misty Fjords National Monument, an area so beautiful, it is known as "The Yosemite of the North." With steep valleys formed by glaciers and lava flows left by volcanic activity, Misty Fjords offers gorgeous views of natural formations, all reflected in the calm waters of Pacific inlets.

We were mid-way through our cruise and docked in Ketchikan. I overheard some of the “cool guys” mention going on a walking tour, so we decided to join. The experience was very much like having some local friends show you around – we got to see the cool stuff, not just the typical tourist things. We really enjoyed our time, we had some good laughs and took some awesome pics……….Terry’s Tours was a win!

Our group of 8 from Georgia went whale watching with Captain Jesse and had a super time! We met on the dock in Ketchikan at 9:00 am, and loaded up. Right off the bat, when we met Jesse, you could tell we were in for a fun time! He was so enthusiastic and friendly! The weather was cool and slightly misty as we headed out, just as you would expect on an early October Alaska morning. You can watch from anywhere on the boat, inside in the warmth, or even sit next to Jesse as he drove. Refreshments were provided free, or we were told we could bring our own food. We saw many humpbacks and watched intently as they surfaced and flipped their huge tails in the air. We also saw bald eagles, otters, and other animals. If it wasn’t for the short window of time we were scheduled to be at the port, we would have loved to have spent more time with Jesse as he shared his vast ocean and wildlife experiences with us! All I can say is, go on the trip with Eagle One. It’ll be the highlight of your vacation!!!!
