You might begin in Lexington, where the 1200-acre Kentucky Horse Park is a popular attraction. The university adds exciting sports, impressive art and a vibrant student/professor population to the city. Louisville is similar, where renowned Churchill Downs hosts the annual Kentucky Derby and the Belle of Louisville, the nation’s oldest steam-driven river paddlewheeler, hosts enchanting lunch and dinner cruises along the beautiful Ohio River. Next, head south to visit Mammoth Cave National Park for a day of touring the cave (the world’s longest known cave), hiking and canoeing on the Green River. Susan is so knowledgeable and friendly. My granddaughter and I went there to paint pottery. Susan spent so much time making sure we got exactly what we wanted and they turned out beautifully. Wearing masks is a must so we felt very safe. If you need a day out for some fun and coming home with your own creation, Elements is the place to go!! Melinda and Kelsey

WKU is my alma mater and I am very proud to say that! Being on the Hill was a terrific experience and I received a wonderful education. The Greek system is very welcoming and pervasive. It is a suitcase university unless you are involved in sports or Greek system. A lot of fun and a reasonable priced great education!

Founded in 1865, the University of Kentucky is the largest public university in the state, educating more than 24,000 students each semester. Home of the UK Wildcats. Walking tours are available.
Besides having an amazing basketball team to watch in one of the greatest gyms ever created, the school and university life are great. The dorm rooms are comfortably sized and efficient for living on campus. As long as you have no problems with huge class rooms, you can't beat this place. The academics and social life are the best I've experienced.

What an honor it was for my husband and me to finally see a bit of the “workings” behind Appalshop’s tremendous contributions in connecting this region and the world beyond in such an authenticating and beneficial way for all parties! To be greeted and guided by Filmmaker Elizabeth Barrett herself and have her autograph one of her most famous films was an unexpected blessing! The flagship for so many smaller, but needed efforts,—such as our own Butler County Arts Guild—Appalshop is to be applauded for its 50 productive years!

Among the many reasons to visit the Civil War fort at Boonesboro is the impressive mural adjacent to the parking lot. The mural’s 12 colorful panels illustrate significant eras and events in the history of the area, including the era of Native Americans, Clark County’s first church, and commerce and industry through the centuries.

The earthwork fortification was built by Union Soldiers to defend the ford and ferry at Boonesboro. A scenic trail provides a beautiful view of the Kentucky River. Self-guided tour. A moderately strenuous, wooded one-mile loop trail that provides panoramic views of the Kentucky River Valley. Pet friendly.
The gun battery never saw action and is actually at Ford, Kentucky, to guard the crossing here on the Kentucky River. Stiff walk up a hill to the gun battery but well worth the climb. Nearby is Fort Booneboro and Kentucky River Museum.
