Things to do in Kauai, Hawaii (HI): The Best Farmers Markets

April 18, 2022 Sachiko Swiger

Relaxing and pristine Kauai (the Garden Island) is the least commercially developed of the Hawaiian islands. Waterfalls, scenic drives and more than 60 beaches dot the landscape. Some beaches have great snorkeling, others offer child-friendly tidal pools and some are perfect for all kinds of water sports. Dry-land activities include hiking the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali coastline, taking a day trip to Waimea Canyon and experiencing life on a sugar plantation at Grove Farm Homestead Museum.

Wish the grill at our vrbo was hotter. Could buy fish in the center and lovely fresh veggies. Alas had to bypass food sellers and just sample white pineapple--extraordinary! And coconut curd. Yum. Lots of vendors, food bites from the local culinary school - which was also the cooking demo tonight - a salad with breadfruit, shrimp and pork belly. Delicious. A must do on Wednesday 330 to 6.

After having visited the island for 25+ years, I finally live here full-time. I have always loved the Fish market and now that I live just minutes away, I come at least once a week for either an ahi or chicken wrap. The food here is so fresh and delicious. I especially enjoy the Tuesday-Wednesday crew. They always make the very best wraps and they always make me smile. Mahalo, to the Kilauea Fish Market for making my day every week, rain or shine. You guys totally rock!

Such a cute place for unique handmade items. For sure the best place to shop on Kauai which has extremely limited shopping options. As a bonus there is an amazing Shave ice place (Fresh Shave) outside and some other fun food trucks. Don't miss it!

Coconut Marketplace

Nice shopping area along the highway and within walking distance of the Kapa'a hotel area. There are a few nice shops featuring local artists and a number of souvenir shops. The ABC country market was a great place to grab essentials, souvenirs and alcohol and has a deli and food service that features a different hot meal each day for a great price. Here you'll find a couple good restaurants that have good reviews and were recommended by local residents and JoJo's shave ice is a nice treat. We enjoyed the live music and hula dancing featured Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoons. The weekly farmers market set up in the parking lot was a great place to pick up some fresh fruit & veggies.
