See a buffalo up close, live like a cowboy for a day on a working cattle ranch or visit a stagecoach stop on the Sante Fe Trail are just a few of the many vacation experiences possible in this state in America’s heartland. You’ll love the wide-open spaces and the opportunities to engage in a variety of one-of-a-kind experiences in this marvelous state, which has the largest segment of true tallgrass prairie remaining in the U.S. Regardless of where you visit: a major metropolitan area like Kansas City, a college town like Manhattan or Lawrence or engaging places like Wichita, Dodge City and Salina, there are a wide array of attractions and sights nearby. If you want to familiarize yourself with cowboy culture, visit the Boot Hills Museum in Dodge City, dine on all-you-can-eat barbeque and hear songs of the American Cowboy at Diamond W Chuckwagon Supper in Wichita or explore the Dickinson County Heritage Center in Abilene, which has dance halls, gaming rooms and 32 saloons.
For outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching and other activities, three of the state’s most popular parks are: Cheney State Park near Wichita; Scott State Park near Scott City and Tuttle Creek State Park near Manhattan.

For real surf and real fun, spend the day at Kenwood Cove - Salina's premier aquatic park, featuring thrill rides, 1,400 feet of slides, a children's play area, and fun attractions for the whole family. Plunge 35 feet from one of the park's four adventure slides. Drop 12 feet then swirl around the tornado slide before falling into a pool below. Hop on an inner tube and glide 275 feet down the river slide into the Lil' Smoky Lazy River. Or, catch a wave in the wave pool. Plus, so much more! Relax, soak up the sun, and spend the day at Kenwood Cove, conveniently located in Salina, Kansas, at the I-70, I-135 interchange. The family-friendly, low-cost aquatic park features Caribbean-inspired décor, lush foliage, and crashing waves, for an authentic island experience.
We travel to Salina, KS around 2-3 times per summer to take advantage of this wonderful family water park. We would love to have this in our hometown! It's affordable, well monitored by lifeguards, clean and fun!! Parking is easy peasy!

We visited this great little park while visiting for a sports event. It was during Spring Break, and we only had a few hours so hoped we’d get our money’s worth. We DID. The park was so clean, the different play areas made it great for all ages, the climbing wall was a hit with my teen boys, the water slides were fun and had very little wait times, the lazy river was also great for all, the spot with basketball hoops kept the boys entertained and for little ones the play park sections looked very fun! My 15, 12 and 9 year olds thought it was very fun. There weren’t a lot of places to sit, but we found a couple spots and there is food available inside. If you are visiting Garden City I’d highly recommend spending 2-5 hours here!

We had an amazing time at Great Wolf Lodge! From checking in the staff was professional and customer service was excellent! All the staff that we interacted with from housekeeping, waterpark, stores, they were all very knowledgeable, very professional! This is our 3rd time here and we will definitely be back! The pup pass we got our daughter came in handy! She loved all the goodies she got just by showing her pass! Thank you for an amazing time! The pools outside and the waterpark was alot of fun! Our room was clean and comfortable! I loved our 1st floor room with the patio!
