Myrties Beach

Reviewed By sueevie - North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

Pebbles of various sizes on the beach and in the water, so if sandy beaches are your thing then this beautiful beach may not be for you. The pebbles on the section of beach I used were small and I certainly didn’t need beach shoes to enter the sea. A tip, watch where the local ladies get in, it’s usually the easiest route! I didn’t see any sun beds but I’m quite happy to lay my towel in the beach, again this was perfectly comfortable for me but may not suit everyone! There are trees at the back of the beach which provide welcome shade. There are a couple of changing cubicles and a shower on the beach about 50m from the quay and the brilliant Stalas taverna, open from 10am for breakfast and delicious lunches overlooking the beach. The sun rises over the mountains behind Myrties so the beach is mainly in shade until after 9.15 (in late September) but in full sun until dusk when you can witness amazing sunsets over Telendos. It was very quiet in these exceptional times so perhaps I enjoyed the beach at its best, I will certainly return in June or September, my favourite months to spend time in Greece.
